Cold and sleepy
Hi Is anyone else feeling cold this afternoon? I not sure if I am starting with a virus as I have been sleepy all day. Or whether it is a side affect of coming off steroid inhalers? My breathing and peak flow is doing well I am holding an even regular blow morning and night.

Peak flow
Hi,I'm just wondering for some advice...the last few days my peak flow has been 250/270...I just have asthma NOT copd. It's usually not overly great...maybe 370-400. It generally gets up to 300/320 once I've taken ventilin. Do you think I need to see my go? I'm on lots of meds...montelukast,ventilin

Short of breath, but good oxgyen sats and peak flow
Hello everyone! I'm dealing with the return of my childhood asthma. There are bits I don't really get, so I was hoping that this lovely community may be able to help! I feel like I have really struggled with being short of breath recently. Last week I was really gasping. Chest muscles hurt, coughing

zafirlukast and montelukast
Hi all, I have just stopped zafirlukast as this has been discontinued and put back onto montelukast which doesnt do great things for me. Is anyone else in the same situation and been switched to something completely different. I’m really annoyed as this has controlled my allergic asthma so well over

Hi new here.
Hi I am new here and looking for some advice. I went to my gp on Thursday because I have been having problems breathing and a really tight chest. The gp said she could hear any wezzing and did my oxygen levels they were 100% when sat down but dipped to 80% when walking. She sent me off to hospital thinking

Not asthma but anxiety?
After a lungs infection (apparently a strong one, was just gone after 12 days of antibiotics) I was still a bit wheezy, so the Doctors tough it was asthma and prescribed me a preventer and reliever inhaler (I barely used the blue inhaler) however, I returned to the GP and the Dr advised me to stop with

Very Severe Emphysema at 41, but feel OK
Hi everyone. I’m new to this group, but have found reading some of your stories really useful. I’m 41 and recently diagnosed with very severe emphysema. It’s come as a big shock, to an extent. I’ve never been a big smoker, mostly socially, but have had a long history of asthma and allergies affecting

How to tactfully put across "no wheeze can still = asthma"
I'm seeing the asthma nurse tonorrow after seeing the GP the other week for an asthma exacerbation. She decided that due to the fact I wasn't wheezing and my sats were 100%, I didn't need oral steroids and that increasing my preventer would be enough. Despite this increase, my symptoms are still the

Little or no GP support & confusing diagnosis.
Hi all. I have previously been tested 3 times since 2012 by my local pratice using spirometry, as advised due to an xray which showed some scarring changes from smoking. Each time my respiratory nurse advices that i have borderline COPD and many GP visits corroborate this. However, dispite this advice

Hi there, I’m now only on Fostair, peak flow is good and I’m afraid to come off of it, in case I end up asI’ll as I was before. However, I’m waking up in the middle of the night with leg cramps, last night was the worst yet, left leg at 3 am and right leg at 6 am, during the day I get cramp in my toes

Peak flow for 9 year old boy
I’m having trouble working out what a typical peak flow for my 9 year old boy should be. He’s 140cm. We are finally getting a proper asthma plan next week but I wonder what it should be? His seems on the low side of 130 - can go up to 150 after his blue - however being confused on how to work it out

Hi again. I’m not sure how to go about how to find out what is giving me asthma. I think I’m going to be discharged from the hospital and am still waking up with difficulties breathing which I did mention to the Dr. In fact I don’t think my breathing is right at all since the pneumonia. He is going

Is it COPD or asthma?
Hello I wonder if anyone can help me please? I'm 50 and have been asthmatic since I was 6. I had a chest infection in April but couldn't shift the cough afterwards. I then had another chest infection in June and was sent for a chest X ray. The GP said the X ray showed a tiny compression on the left lung

Reactive airway, not asthma?
Hi, resp cons this week says not asthma he thinks but hyper reactive airways. Given Avamys for daily use but told not to use any regular therapy for any SOB unless e.g. chest infection, for which he gave script for prednisolone to keep at home. Also a script for Symbicort 200 but told this is not for

It was this time last year my asthma decided to become brittle. I spent over a month with attacks on and off,in and out of hospital and over 6 weeks on steroids. Tight chest but normal PF
Hi guys, I had a flare up about 2 months back and after a tough couple of weeks when I moved from Qvar to Fostair it helped me get things back under control. Not totally back to normal but certainly back on track. Over the last day or two, however my chest has felt pretty tight in the mornings and evening
