Have you discussed this with one of the Asthma UK nurses? Probably best to as it doesn't sound like your symptoms are "classic" and they can advise what to highlight with your GP in order to receive targeted treatment for your asthma type.

Hi, have you just dropped or stopped oral steroids? It could be ILO breathing, that feels tight in throat and neck?
