Lack of interest in Asthma by my local NHS
I was diagnosed a year and a half ago with Asthma. It took the NHS 40 years to diagnose me, and did so after an x-ray, peak flow and lung capacity test. All the 'expert' doctor at Epsom hospital in Surrey had to say was 'It's nothing serious, just Asthma, it won't kill you. go to your doctor and he can

What is this?
I always get Asthma after a chest infection and it plays havoc with my running. Its been over a month now and I suspect it still hasn't quite left me. Can anybody relate to this and give me some feedback? It feels like the top of my chest is producing clear and foamy white mucus. It feels dry at times

Becoming Obsessed with my Asthma
I suffer from hypochondria, if you are not aware of what this is, It's a type of OCD/Anxiety that makes you worry about the slightest of things. For example, I could simply have a bug and I'll think I am dying, or even have cancer. Logic doesn't come into play with me most of the time, and even if I

Lower than (my usual) average peak flow, and asthma nurse suddenly concerned.
Hi, new user here! I've had asthma all my life, it's genetic, and I've been relatively symptom free recently! Usually, I notice it at night, or after running, but otherwise, I don't take my reliever (Ventolin 200 Accuhaler) at all. During an asthma check-up, my asthma nurse said that my peak flow was

4 year old falling through the cracks in the NHS
Hi, I would love some advise on this issue. My 4 year old had his first asthma attack (completely out of the blue) 2 years ago so when he was 2 and a half. This was in the spring and doctors think hayfever may have set it off. He stayed two nights in hospital recovering, then was sent home with Salbutamol

Poor care at GP practice
I saw a consultant this week and gathered from her reaction that the asthma care at my GP practice is really poor. From what I read on AUK website it is rather common, unfortunately, but I'm curious as to how others have dealt with this and what their experiences were. The nurse that was assigned to

help please at wits end
Hi I was diagnosed about 18 months ago, I am 54 years old. I have had a cough now since Nov 2012. Spiro confirmed asthma, I did not get any better on steroid inhalers and ventolin, I had a couple of courses of oral seteroids, sometimes these helped sometimes they did not. Repeat spiro did not show

Advice needed please.. coughing
Hi just wanting a bit of help or advise please. I know many of you are having a rotten winter, myself included. One question i would like answered is; is it normal to constantly have a productive cough? I'd say 98% of the time i cough up mucus numerous times a day since first winter infection Last

How do I get my child to use her Peak Flow Meter?
My child needs to use her PFM but she won't use it consistently at school. Do any of you have that problem?

Running with chest infection/asthma
I'm very encouraged by posts on here re running with asthma. After several long running chest infections last year I got diagnosed with adult onset asthma. The chest infections meant I had long periods away from doing much running which was depressing. Having finally got to an NHS Respiratory Clinic

What do you do when you start getting a cold?
Just wondering what everyone else does when they start getting sick. I've woken up with sore throat, blocked nose, earache, temp and can definitely already feel my asthma starting to be affected. The thing is, there's nothing on my asthma plan to prevent things happening at this stage, it's all about

Abnormal chest tightness
I just wondered how other peoples chest tightness in relation to asthma manifests itself? I usually find that the front of my chest gets tight, as though someone is sat on my chest, but recently I've found that I'm getting tightness across the back too, almost like my back muscles are knotted and i
