Very low B12 Levels...
Hi All, I’ve been found to have very low levels of vitamin B12 & folate. I’m having a blood test to check the intrinsic factor tomorrow. If that comes back negative can I supplement myself to get my levels up or do I have to have injections?? My only symptom is hairloss! I’m on loading doses of vitamin

I am going to see my GP this week, and I am looking for some advice. First a brief background. Until 4 months ago I was well ... then I started getting

Diet during treatment
I'm in the middle of my b12 injection treatment, having completed 7 daily injections and two injections once a week. I'm positive for intrinsic factor blocking antibody, and we're confirming whether I have PA with an endoscopy in the next weeks. My question: What should my diet be at this point? Balanced

Discontinuing B12 injections.
My mother had PA. According to parietal cell and intrinsic factor tests, I don't. My B12 was low but at the time I was taking omeprazole. If I had a blood test now, how long would I need to wait before having another one to determine whether I need injections for life or not? Can high B12 cause paraesthesia

Hairloss - very worried 😧
Hello All, I am regular poster on the thyroid forum but this is my first post here! My question is has anyone experienced hairloss due to very low B12 and folate levels? I’ve had hairloss for five months now and have lost a lot of hair. I’m waiting for the intrinsic factor (?) blood test before I start

What were your symptoms just prior to treatment?
What a great site, so glad I stumbled on to it. A big thank you for all the testimonies on my previous post. I have another question here, but first: My case seems quite unique in that I virtually have to symptoms other than an occasional dull ache in some lymph nodes (groin area) but no swelling. BTW

Biopsy Results
Hi all, You may remember a few months ago I posted about protein in my urine as well as slightly echogenic kidneys. Well I have had my biopsy results and I am finding the results a little confusing. The official results were “immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis with segmental glomerular scarring

Intrinsic Factor Reference Ranges
Hi, I wonder if anyone can shed some light on these reference ranges for intrinsic factor. The first one was done 2013, when I was convinced I had PA. The second one was done in June this year by Medichecks. The third one was done by my GP on the 29th of August. I have no idea why she ordered it as

False Positive PA Test
Hey guys, I took a PA test recently (Intrinsic Factor Antibody) and it came back positive. I'm always a little skeptical so I did some more research. I ended up finding the information below from Quest who is the lab that did my test. I had been getting 3 b12 injections per week when I got the tests

Anyone had any joy reducing or eliminating presence of parietal cell antibodies?
Has anyone had any help from visiting a gastroenterologist? Interventions (surgical or drugs?) by, or Advice from, a gastroentereologist? Can dietary adjustments help? Or are there known or suspected triggers (foods, toxins, stress etc), for the antibodies, that I can look to remove? (Similar to

Does this sound right? Really confused
In May this year my routine B12 blood test was 240 (range 170 - 800) with the lab commenting that less than 250 can be considered a deficiency in a symptomatic patient, especially the elderly. Because I have been very fatigued for a very long time (the reason for my clinic visit), my GP started me on

A possibly interesting publication revealing 10-fold increase in inflammatory molecule in microvascular angina patients.
This post is rather long. My “Google Scholar Alerts” have notified me of a possibly interesting abstract relating to the physiology of microvascular angina (MVA): https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/abs/10.1161/atvb.39.suppl_1.348 The abstract shows that the tested MVA patients had elevated levels of a

How to use castor oil packs
Hi Someone mentioned caster oil packs recently. I'd heard of using them before but I sort of forgot about them. Does anyone have experience of using them? (and just on abdomen or liver as well?) I understand how you use them just not sure when I should start and when to stop? I've just been given the

Please advise on B12
Having had chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia as well as Hashimotos for several years. My symptoms have increased since being treated for h pylori. I am beginning to wonder if I am deficient in B12. My blood tests are always high in range or massively above. I am thinking of getting private blood test
