Methotrexate
Just had my appointment with the Rheumatologist, he was concerned that I am coming up to 3 years on Steroids (Dec) and wants me to take Methotrexate instead and wean off the steroids. Not sure whether I feel good or bad about it as I don't know anything about it. I have come away with a booklet and

Test for intrinsic factor antibodies - when to do?
Quick questions, I hope! My doctor has agreed to this test but said we should wait until after 4 weeks after a third monthly injection of b12. I don't really see the point in waiting, because if it confirms a Pernicious Anemia diagnosis, that would hopefully mean I could start on more frequent loading

B12 levels are high but.......
Hi - I’m new to this, but will try to write my query. Got diagnosed with PA by a gastroenterologist about 6 years ago ( I don’t have the intrinsic factor) B12 injections every 3 months until about 3 years ago, then down to every 2 months. But at 6 weeks, I go downhill fast. This past year, it’s been

Minoca and still have chest pains
Newbie here. I had a MINOCO at the end of July, I had been getting chests pains for months. Nothing showed up except for troponin raised levels. My blood pressure is always low, I am not overweight, I don't smoke or drink, so I'm not on any medication, except for a 10mg statin, which I have just stopped

Adding good news
Hi all. I thought I would pop in and share some good news. I have refused to take all the drugs that have been offered to me. But even experimentation with lower levels of hydrocodone and OxyContin have been uncomfortable enough that I refused to go in the opioid direction. What has worked for me and

Still breathless
Last February I finished my second line of chemo and soon after developed debilitating breathlessness. It is really affecting my life, but it seems there is nothing I can do about it. My haemoglobin is 99 which is not excessively low, I have had a chest X ray, ECG, CT of thorax, abdomen and pelvis and

How long before an oral B12 tablet affects your Active/Serum B12 level?
Assuming for a moment that you don't have PA, and that you can successfully absorb oral B12 tablets like a healthy person (who may just have a very poor diet): 1) How long does it take an oral B12 tablet to be absorbed, such that it raises an Active B12 blood test result (or failing that, a Serum B12

Hello, I’m new here
About 7-8 years ago I was diagnosed with tachycardia and prescribed Verapamil. I have since had no follow-ups, apart from one visit to my GP about three years ago when I felt the tachycardia was getting worse, and was told to take one extra tablet a day. Up until 28.08.21 I continued taking this dosage

How long from MDT to biologic?
Hello! My team have recommended starting Adalimumab. My screening bloods and Chest X-ray have been done and are ok. The referral has been submitted to the biologic MDT…. How long does it take in people‘s experience for things to move forwards now 🤞🏻? I shouldn’t really complain as everyone has been

Low BMI, fatigue, and PA?
Hi again, everyone — It’s been almost a year since I received a positive IFAB test and started both B12 and iron supplementation. Since then, I’ve gone from being a very active and competitive runner (30-45 miles per week, though admittedly that became impossible shortly before my diagnosis) to being

Active B12 testing
Hi all, I have held off SI this month as I was trying to work out what might be causing skin flushing that I’ve been having. My neuro symptoms and stiff and achey joints are back although I’ve been waiting to hear from my GP about whether they will test for anti- intrinsic factor antibodies again and

Pain by left ribs
I have had worsening pain and swelling by my left ribs since having pericarditis and an effusion . I saw my gp and she said it could just be that my chest is more prominent that side . It’s so bad now that I have started using voltarol gel along with strong pain relief to try to sleep, if I lean forward

Hello - I’m new and have questions.
Hi Everyone, I’m new here and very grateful for this group and information. I joined because after doing some research - I suspect I may possibly have PBC - even though my gastroenterologist suspects AIH (autoimmune hepatitis) instead. I would greatly appreciate your insights. I am a 65 year old female

Levothyroxine sodium pentahydrate tablets - formulation considerations
Levothyroxine is reaching retirement! It has been available for just over sixty-five years. :-) Despite that, we still have to accept formulations which are problematic. This review paper summarises in its abstract two major causes of these problems. It then identifies shortcomings in the United States

Can it take up to 3 months to feel benefit of iron infusion?
Hi. After noticing my RLS symptoms were getting worse, I had my ferritin checked and found that it was only 5, so this led to me having an iron infusion 3 weeks ago. I had my ferritin checked again 2 weeks after the infusion, and found out yesterday that my ferritin has now risen to 363. However, this
