A bit about me

Out of the blue, diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation
How can I go from an investigation of shortness of breath, a clear chest X-ray, a normal ECG and blood test, 2 weeks later a stint in resus, an overnight stay, to now being diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation, how does that happen? Was very fit, exercised regularly, but have a history of hypotension.

I completed six sessions of Carbo/Caelyx in February, and almost immediately noticed breathlessness. Up until then, I had no issues at all, and could walk for long distances and do my housework and gardening. This condition came on so quickly, and is having a huge impact on my life. I make the bed, then

Low stomach acid tests
I asked some questions about B12 and Diarrhoea here: https://healthunlocked.com/pasoc/posts/145437733/vit-b12-and-diarrhoea Some people came back suggesting that low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria) is a cause of stomach acid. I did the sodium bicarbonate "burp" test and it seems I might

IF and celiac test results 'normal'
Hi all, if you had tests on the NHS for Intrinsic factor did you get details of test or just told normal? I have two tests in my online records which just show up as n/a which I assumed meant they weren't taken at all. When I called the doctors they said that the intrinsic factor one was 'normal'. I

Where to get private testing done
Hi I just wondered is anyone can tell me where I could get more in depth testing done for B12 deficiency and pernicious anaemia as my GP only orders the standard serum B12 test and intrinsic factor test Thank you in advance 😊

Fred the iron molecules tale : The end
This will only make sense if you’ve read my previous post https://healthunlocked.com/rlsuk/posts/146515820/fred-the-iron-molecule-and-rls-a-story. There was a question in this post and I promised the writer of the best answer a chocolate muffin. It’s my opinion that the best information was provided

B12 and hot flushes
Hello, I started my loading doses just over a year ago and ended up resorting to SI as many do around Nov 2020 as I had ongoing neuro symptoms (tingling & numbness in hands & feet, some shooting nerve pains in fingers). I now SI every 2 weeks although I still have some mild neuro symptoms (unsure whether

Hello everyone, I saw my oncologist today. My news was not good. I had radiation to the breast area and under my arm where I had recently had more lymph nodes removed. This radiation caused inflammation in my lung as revealed by a ct scan 5 weeks ago. So last week I had a chest X-ray to see if a round

My Labs
Just got my labs back (keep in mind that I had a B12 injection from my former GP on June 30th). Not sure what to make of it. I have had two loading doses of B12 the last two days. Should I stay the course on the injections- daily for a week, then weekly for 4 weeks, then monthly? Intrinsic Factor: 1.1

Fred the iron molecule, and RLS : A story.
A story with no ending. If you don't like stories skip to "THE END" I have an ex-colleague who used to teach physiology using guided imagery. I attended one of her lectures once on the oxygenation of blood. All the students had to close their eyes and sit, (or lie down) comfortably. Then she began

B12 Testing
My GP tested my B12 in late June and it was 248. She gave me a B12 (Cyanocobalamin) injection on June 30th without doing any other tests. I then went to see a neurologist and she couldn’t believe that the GP had not done more testing. The neurologist has me scheduled today for the following tests: B12

AF what does the future hold?
Hi Everyone, Still fresh with the diagnosis but a lot more educated on it now and aware of the different forms of treatment. Also got my echo booked in and appointment with the consultant in the next 6 weeks which is good. 2.5mg bisoporlol seems to be working okay. No side effects that I’m aware of.

D-dimer & Dangerous Blood Clots
I have posted quite a lot about the importance of D-dimer in the past 5+ years, but the recent post from 5_plus_4, "
I almost died Tuesday
" had me thinking that perhaps some basic information on coagulation issues needs to be reposted periodically, particularly for new members. No-one should die

Improvements from F4 to F3!!! Success story (well kind of😉)
Hi friends! If you have read my post before you know I am a 55 year old female with NASH and cirrhosis. I knew I had fatty liver for the last several years, but a January fibroscan of 265 and 15.5 led me to a biopsy and confirmed diagnosis of F4 NASH and cirrhosis. At this time I immediately dropped

Been calling my GP and going to a&e many times with chest x-ray, blood work, ECG results that were fine. No spirometer test as gp said
