I’m waiting for a CT scan on my aorta in April it’s currently 5cm .I had aorta valve replacement 6 years ago which went well .The last couple of weeks I’ve had a muscular type pain across my shoulders sometimes left hand of my neck and left side of rib cage under arm pit also left hand side of lower back .I went to doctors today and he’s referred my for a chest X-ray and a CT scan I’m worried sick in case it’s something more sinister. The muscular pain feels exactly like when my body was healing after my valve replacement anyone else experienced this .

Muscular pain

That sounds like a long time to wait for a CT heart scan. In your position and with pain I would try and bring it forward. Are you on a cancellation list? They exist in most hospital departments .Occasionally the dept will not have a cancellation list .If this is so then try your GP and ask for his/her intervention.
Hi had a Ct in October the cardiologist wanted another one in 6 months hence that’s why it’s in April
Quick update on my muscular pain ,on Sunday evening my pain was getting worse so I decided to go to AE .While I was there I had a egc and a Ct scan also bloods done everything came back normal it was also reassuring to find out my aorta arch hadn’t got any bigger. The doctor said it could be muscular I explained that sometimes in my left shoulder across my shoulder blades and occasionally around my heart I’ve still got the pain now I’m at a loss what to do next I’m panicking now it case it something else .The blood test came back ok would that have shown up something if there was anything else wrong ?
I was in this kind of pain for 10 months with 6 visits to A&E. every time blood test and ecg etc came back normal. I even had a stent fitted in the 6th time but pain still was there after this.
I went private for a 2nd opinion and I was told I have a Pinched nerve or a pulled muscle around my chest. I was asked to stop all angina medication.
I was prescribed Amitriptyline 10 mg which solved my problems . Now my life is almost back to normal with 4 medications off my list.
Worth asking your cardiologist
