First visit Boxing Day as previous post, diagnosed with A&F discharged. Felt terrible all next week heartbeat all over the place, if this AF I can’t handle it, saw a GP not much help. New Year’s Day all over the place very low to high and back again, double beats, missed beats the lot. Back to A & E, this time ECG showed no signs of AF, doctor advised 12 lead, the same. Sent to waiting room within a minute doctor and straight through to a bed. Obviously he was very concerned, chest x ray and kept in all night. Without any medication it settled, consultant came round in the morning reduced my daily medication and put it down to overuse of medication. Reduced my Atenolol from 50mg to 25 mg and took me off of 10mg of Amlodipine Been on 50mg Atenolol, 10mg Amlodipine, 10mg Ramipril, Statin and Aspirin for 18 years since heart attack. The following 2 evenings after heavy evening meal AF up to 85 for about an hour then and the morning in between up to 130 for a couple of minutes, I was feeling withdrawal symptoms. Nothing since. Cardiologist on 31/01/22. Does anyone think the later events could be part of the withdrawal symptoms and that’s the end of it, or is it wishful thinking. Been feeling great.

Dear Sherbett

So glad to hear that after all the worries that you have had, now you are feeling great.

Sorry I’m not medically trained to be able to tell you if it’s the change in your meds causing this or not.

But fantastic news I’m really pleased for you.

I’m sure your next visit to the cardiologist will throw some light on it.

Take care

Hi Sherbett, heavy meals are likely to set off AF, so I would try and have smaller portions from now on. I snack on fruit and nuts between meals so that I can make them smaller. Alcohol, caffeine, food additives and not drinking enough water can also be triggers. If you need to lose weight that may help reduce your attacks too. There is a forum just for AF on Health Unlocked and I'll find the link for you.

Here it is:
