Have been advised by members in the thyroid community to ask this question of yourselves.
I have been fighting for years with GP's re my Hashimoto's and my pernicious anaemia. I have been taking 5mg folic acid and have done for many years along with 3 monthly B12 injections. I continually ask for at least 2 monthly jabs but have always been told NO. When I went for an injection just before christmas I was told I was to have a blood test as well. It was for intrinsic factor, B12, folate and FBC. Gratefully the nurse did the blood test first. I have been for a copy of the results which tell me they are still waiting for the cell tissue autoab screen test but it shows by B12 as >2000 (211 - 911) So will get no help there. (I told them it would not help). My serum folate is ">20.0 (>5.4ug/l) Within normal limits."
Is a folate level of >20 ok and should I still be prescribed the folic acid?
Many thanks in advance of any thoughts on this matter.
