Capsule endoscopy patency test
My consultant has referred me for a capsule endoscopy but because there are adhesions and a resolving blockage in the bowel I have to swallow a patency capsule in case it gets stuck in the bowel. I was booked in for the 31st Oct for a pre op. I rang the endoscopy suite to ask what it involved and she

IBS: Starting a journey to win back my life.
I've had IBS since I was 16 and since then my symptoms have varied so much. I started off with crippling stomach pains which prevented me from standing up or walking or even lying in bed in particular positions. I also suffered from extreme bloating and constipation. Now for the last year my symptoms

More "Good News/Bad News"
This seems to be a common thread here lately: My wife is currently in the Bio-Gen study (not the similar Abbvie study). It is a double-blind study of a monoclonal antibody that is intended to attach itself to excess TAU and then flush the TAU from her system. The current drug will, it is hoped, slow

First endoscopy
Hello everyone. I had my first endoscopy after having what appeared to be hiatus hernia symptoms. I had no sedation and couldn't tolerate the procedure and apparently a 'lump' was found. I was prescribed omperazole and told they will do another endoscopy in 4 weeks under sedation to do a biopsy. Naturally

Portal hypertension
I've had a copy of the letter sent to my gp from my gastroenterologist. It says it shows hepatic cirrhosis and portal hypertension. I knew about the cirrhosis but haven't got a clue about portal hypertension...advice anyone? It also says the ct showed resolving mid small bowel adhesional obstruction.

Why if you have nausea from acid reflux does eating (temporary) help?
I have had acid reflux off and on for 2 years or more. Now it's acute and won't response to anti acid medication so having an endoscopy next Wednesday. So in the beginning I thought the nausea it was something I ate. Eating something again helped temporary not to feel sick.So why does it help?

Non specific gastritis, I’m not really sure what that means! 😏
Hi everyone, I had a positive Intrinsic factor test 3 yrs ago along with a low b12 serum level, I was then diagnosed with PA (after many years of various symptoms) I had b12 loading doses then monthly injections ever since which eventually helped some of my symptoms. Recently I’ve had oesophageal and

Prior to it mostly unrecognized symptoms gradually increased over the course of 2-3 months included pain

Autoimmune gastritis due to PA
Hey all, I was diagnosed with PA over a year ago due to a general check-up and got a full blood count done. My b12 levels were seriously low and iron too.I never really had any symptoms or felt overly tired it was quiet a shock for me. My doctor then referred me on to a GI specialist who recommended

Gastric endoscopy
I have to have a gastric endoscopy done tomorrow, and I confess I’m terrified. Has anyone had this done? Can you tell me a little about what to expect during & after?
