Reintroduction of gluten into my diet and possible iodine deficiency
Hi everyone, Following on from my post about 4 months ago and suggestions made in reply by SlowDragon and Greygoose, I reintroduced gluten into my diet as an experiment after more than two years of being gluten-free. The plan was to see if I felt any different and if my antibodies would go up again -

Hi, started LCHF 9days ago. Have been doing IF on and off for a few months as this tends to be my normal eating pattern, so I have been extending the fasts. Normally 16/8 or 18/6, completed a 20/4 fast 4 days ago. Had been reading through some older posts on this forum where people had been doing longer

I've seen an awful lot of advice on here about lchf diets. I'm 54 and have a lot of weight to shed. For those of you who are similar to me and do not follow this type of diet how are you finding the calorie counting and exercise route? Are you successfully losing weight?

I’m 70kg 172cm tall and trying to get down to my best weight of 62kg. I’m on about 800 calories a day perhaps less some days. Brown wholemeal low carb is my boring diet. I power walk for a mile ever morning. I do PE with Joe at 9am plus some weights and sit ups. I have a half hour walk at lunch time

Gluten free diet
I have been trying to lose some weight since my last afib event two weeks ago. I’ve adopted a gluten free (ish) diet and I’ve managed to lose some weight which is great. However there’s been an unexpected benefit in that my ectopics have reduced significantly. Yes I guess not eating as much helps but

No intial loss
So I am not getting why I am not losing weight. I have completed C25K, changed diet to healthy eating and now on a vegan low carb and still only lost a total of 1kg (over a total of 9wks). My overall goal is not to be on a yo-yo diet I really just want to eat health, exercise and once a week enjoy a

Just curious, has anyone here tried dmso for pain and inflammation and what has been your experience. I've researched it quite a bit and find it very interesting.

Myo and D Chiro Inositol for Hashimotos
Hi all I’d really appreciate your thoughts. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos around 6 years ago after gradually becoming very unwell with Hypo symptoms. Two years ago I found out the Hashimotos had destroyed my ovarian reserve and after a number of false starts and two rounds of IVF my consultant advised

What do people mean when they say….
Diet
This phrase is a bit ambiguous: it can mean way of eating, see below, or it can mean a temporary weight loss plan that you only do for a short amount of time, before returning to your previous diet. See? It's confusing!
WOE/Way of eating
The term diet has negative connotations

Buddha bowl fruit salad
So it's not particularly low-carb, but I just fancied some refreshing fruit this evening. It consists of apple, small apricot, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries plus a dollop of peanut butter scattered with toasted seeds. I eat it with that tiny dessert fork (pretentious? moi?) as it seems to make

Hello, fellow sufferers. Just wanted to put up a positive post for once. I came to this group 4 years ago with ‘normal’ test results, but feeling fat, out of breath, having terrible memory loss, suspected IBS, unable to walk more that a few yards without being out of breath. Hair falling out, pains and

LCHF mythbusting : part II
Another in my ongoing series of rants!
LCHF only works because it reduces your calories.
This one drives me crazy. It's usually preceded by a grudging acknowledgement that "LCHF works, but ..." and concluded with "... so any calorie-controlled diet would work as well". To which the obvious response

Insulin and Prostate.
This is a VERY interesting video to gentlemen of a certain age concerning enlarging of the prostate. Previous to watching this my take was a shrug of the shoulders in that it's 'something that comes to men with age. I'd gone as far as I could in researching the condition and came up against 'testosterone

Amazing summer recipes from the Guardian 😋
Mostly low carb, too. Only carby ingredients I spotted were lentils, breadcrumb, nectarine and ponzu sauce. Tomato salad with coriander mayonnaise Courgettes with creme fraiche and basil Nectarines, ham and blue cheese Prawns with crumbs and ponzu sauce A salad of lentils and red peppers https://www.theguardian.com

My Swedish supper
This is probably the tastiest beige plate I have eaten since I went low carb. Swedish meatballs in a rich sauce; sautéed cabbage and leeks;celeriac home fries; redcurrant & blackcurrant sauce. 😋 (plating my food for photography increases my pleasure, so I have to share the photos with someone. sorry
