Acupuncture and Hot Flashes
MO has prescribed Paxil,
Effexor
and something else that didn't work, I tried magnesium and bee pollen all to no avail. I finally tried acupuncture - he had mentioned this the first time I complained and have just now tried it.

What To Do Next?
I am currently on a combination of
Effexor
XR (150mg), Lexapro (10mg) and Elavil (25mg) with Ativan on the side as needed. I try to avoid taking the Ativan as much as possible. I've been through four different therapists and three psychiatrists (part of this is because I've moved).

Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs): Medications like venlafaxine (
Effexor
) and duloxetine (Cymbalta) may be prescribed in cases where SSRIs are not effective or well-tolerated. SNRIs work by increasing the levels of both serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. 3.

Want to get rid of brain zaps? I recently figured out how.
But
Effexor
isn't a single release capsule, its actually six discretely timed releases that go off every four hours in a 24 hour period. See where I'm going with this yet?

New Poster, nervous and unsure if this is real.
My folks, trying to be supportive, sought solutions through pharmacology, but I ended up having some extreme adverse reactions to a few of them like
Effexor
- which induced rage-states that ultimately had me packed off to a juvenile psychiatric ward after the summer of my junior year to rapidly detox

struggling everyday I fight
I’ve had a lot of trial and error with medications and am back on
Effexor
. Today I told my boyfriend I need to come get my things soon and he can’t accept I’m not happy in the relationship anymore and won’t let go which makes it harder for me.

Med Change
So, my psychiatrist switched to
Effexor
on Friday. My mood changes are HORRIFIC. LOL That is supposed to be normal until my body gets used to it. But, I have noticed that I get very cold once it kicks in. Is this normal? Will it pass?

I switched from Zoloft to
Effexor
. I increased my hydroxyzine to a higher dosage. I need encouragement. I have more irritation, extreme mood swings, & I suddenly get very cold when it first kicks in. My doctor let me know most side effects. But, I had no idea of just how off I would feel.

Will I ever feel “normal”?
I took
Effexor
for a short time and stopped when I was 16 due to side effects. After I had my first child at age 23 I started on pristiq and found I was barely surviving, my MD switched me to Prozac which I am on now, and have found good effects but still suffering with symptoms at times.

Effexor
I took
Effexor
for 15 years. Was on 225 for a while and was fine. I got off
Effexor
last year and couldn’t manage so I slowly went back on it. I have made my way back up to 225 because my anxiety was still there. I have days where I feel drugged or loopy.

changing meds
I have used
effexor
for 20 years. I’t recently stopped working so I decided to make a change to Prozac. I’ve been off
effexor
for about a week and it n Prozac for 4. My anxiety is terrible. Has anyone else experienced this after changing meds and does it stop?

Effexor Withdrawal
I am trying to withdraw from
Effexor
75 XR after 24 years. I started tapering in late May 2022 and have only reduced to 73 since then. I tried to reduce to 72.7 2 weeks ago and have been very sick ever since, so I went back up to 73. Still sick.

Fear of going back on antidepressants
I've had some unpleasant side effects from those other meds and the last one I was on,
Effexor
, I had terrible withdrawal symptoms for months that I said I would never go on antidepressants again.
