Thanks, Celtic. Did the drug help you have motivation to do stuff back?

Hi Millie, I hope you are doing well all things considered.

I have only taken fluoxetine and venlafaxine long term and I definitely prefer the effexor. I found that both help my anxiety/depression, but fluoxetine left me feeling very tired all of the time, which was still preferable to the anxiety/depression. Effexor hasn't seemed to have any side effects for me, other than adjusting to getting on it. There was a definite spike in anxiety getting on it and going up on it, but only the initial starting lasted very long. I was able to make it through by recognizing that the changes were my body getting accustomed to were just caused by adjusting to the med.

May be TMI, but I also found that fluoxetine had sexual side effects so when we were going to have kids is when I went off of it. I haven't noticed any sexual side effects with effexor.

I wish you peace, hope, and strength

Thanks LoveforAll 41. So the med help you to treat both your anxiety and low mood at once?

Yes. I guess I could also mention that I worked all the way up to 300 mg. Dr said I could do half in the morning and half at night but taking pills more than once a day really increases my chances of not taking it

Hello, I take effexor, 150 mg at night. I think it helps my depression and anxiety big time. I don't remember any side effects because I've been on it for so long. It does get titrated but that's a good thing. Maybe start on a very small dose? I've found it helpful personally. Good luck, keep us updated.

Thanks Swilly. You had both anxiety and depression too when you first started to take it?

Yup. A good heaping pile of anxiety and depression. My doctor at the time said he was prescribing it for anxiety though.

I have taken 150 mg every day for a long time. I was depressed AND didn’t want to do anything I have had no side effects. The only time I had a bd time was when I had surgery and they never heave it to me nd became sad. Few months later when I realized I was off it for 3 mos. Tried going to. Lower dose as well but for me it didn’t woek

Dear Milliewater lilly,I have used this medication in the past and absolutely loved it. I took it in the morning bc it gave me energy. I didn't take at night bc of that. It could cause you not to sleep and Lord knows we need sleep! I had no side effects other than a slight curb in my appetite. That was it. I started low and worked up to a perfect dosage. It worked wonders for my depression & anxiety! It's an older medication but absolutely worked for me. I wish you all the best! Do not be afraid to take it. It could be what you need. Hoping this helped. Good health to you my friend 💗
