NSAID's (like Ibuprofen) with Apixaban
Hi I have been on Apixaban for some years, following Persistent AF, now resolved after an ablation in 2020. Like all senior citizens I get bouts of muscle pain. Ibuprofen is not recommended because of the risk of intestinal bleeding, though I have taken it for short periods and it works really well

Wow, I'm y telling doctor I have so much pain from OA, and and told to take nsaids that upset my stomachs after taking them for years for pain But, on TV they have an injection for cats with OA for pain. WTF?Can't no one find something for humans to help with pain? I just don't understand this world

pain relief
my left knee is killing me with pain now and walking is proving difficult. I’ve a telephone appointment with my GP on Weds to see what I can get. Has anyone else been able to get reasonable pain relief whilst waiting for knee replacement op. I m only using nurofen at the moment and am conscious

Difflam spray (Benzydamine hydrochloride) NSAID?
Good morning, I hope everyone is as well as they can be. I’ve recently been having an issue with an inflamed tonsil on the right side of my throat, and it’s causing me a lot of grief. Spoke with the GP yesterday, and she prescribed the Difflam spray which contains 0.15% Benzydamine Hydrochloride.

non live shingles vaccine
I will be having my shingles vaccine soon (70 in May) - should I ask for non live vaccine - Shingrax? I take 6 mg of prednisolone a day - GP says live vaccine ok if on less than 7.5 mg but check with nurse - should I go private if GP won’t let offer non live vaccine?

Ibuprofen Gel
After a small HA six years or so ago, I take aspirin, amplodipine, ramipril and atorvastatin. I've strained a tendon in my upper arm which has seriously impacted the mobility of my dominant arm. To cut a long story short, my GP has diagnosed tendonopathy and while I wait to see a physiotherapist for

Making plans to go forward?
Hi folks, this is my first post. I'm a year into my brain injury caused by encephalitis. This is the second injury, the first was 5 years ago and I recovered fairly quickly and fully. This second was a surprise to everyone, but apparently I probably have a rare disease that makes recurrent encephalitis

Grounding/Earthing
Has anyone tried earthing/grounding for afib? I know it sounds a bit out there, but I think there is really something here. I am going through some medical issues that normally I would take NSAIDs for, but because of the wisdom of this group I am not. So I looked for what else can bring down inflammation

pmr and now shingles
hi- I’m on day 6 of aciclovir for shingles. I cannot believe how bad I feel. The electric shock like pains up the side of my head 😱. And the general aches. Any advice? I’m down to 4 mg pred and was doing ok after the initial fatigue when I dropped down . Should I stay in bed? I really can’t believe

Muscle Relaxers?
So I think we established that NSAIDs we’re no-gos, with Naproxen the least objectionable and codeine as a possibility for strong pain relief, and paracetamol/acetaminophen for regular pain relief. How about muscle relaxants? Are there any that are safe with Afib? Thanks so much!

I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Arthritis, Pernicious Anaemia, Hypertension, Coeliac disease and now some unexplained kidney problem. I have had an MRI which has shown a problem but I don't know what

Understanding the source of my pain.
Hi everyone, I'm having difficulty assessing the source of my pain and am seeking clarification from anyone who can help. First, the good news: As of yesterday and today, most of my pain is gone. It's been nine days since I raised my prednisone from 20mg to 25mg. I had been worried that 25mg was not

I have suffered with a painful back most of my adult life. Gp would give me nsaids. The last few year I couldn’t stand the pain throughout my body. Legs and hip’s especially painful. I have had several falls within the last six months. Two year ago I was referred to a rheumatologist. He diagnosed fibromyalgia
