Psilocybin made my pain go away after 5 doses. Problem is it is illegal outside of Oregon

I was having unbearable pain in my leg from a pinched L-5 nerve in my back. I took a Canaibis product called THC 100, which I got at a dispensary in California. Within an hour all pain was gone and did not return for 24 hours. The down side was it turned me into a Zombie. When I returned home I picked up a less potent Indica product that was good at managing the pain so I could still function. None of them come with any instructions so you have to experiment with dosages. If you ask for a pain reduction product at your local dispensary they will have something they can recommend.

you can try a hemp ( not cannabis ) derivative product ( currently federally legal in all 50 states ) called Delta-8 cbd. Not just cbd but specifically delta-8 cbd. I have a number of friends that rave about how well it , delta-8, works for them for pain. I think it works for me too but it gets you mildly stoned like marijuana but less powerful like before super weed came along. Most users enjoy its milder effects much more than the sledgehammer marijuana that is currently sold.

It’s also a potent mood enhancer that makes everyone happy ( overtly if you eat too much ) as well. Delta-8 is known to enhance other pain meds too.

As with all other supplements and prescriptions, always run everything past your medical care team to make sure the new meds won’t negatively impact what he already takes.

Opiates do work, particularly morphine , and there is nothing wrong with using the medications that actually get the job done. People often get caught up in the “ opiate “ social stigma and or concern about addiction. If he is advanced stage 4 , then addiction just isn’t a relevant issue at this point. Being comfortable , as our disease comes and takes us , should be our only main concern ., it’s all about quality of life for us croakers and thank goodness we have such a good drug ( morphine) to help us.

Just IMHO , my 2 cents worth … your experiences may vary .

My guy had great relief from using various THC and CBD products, topicals, edibles and smoke. It was a bit trial and error at times and often left him with the giggles, but overall these side effects he considered to be welcomed. 😉

Icing helped as well. Colpac brand comes in very large flexible pieces that worked brilliantly on larger areas of the body. His bone Mets were quite extensive. Microwave heat packs helped at times too. Various bath soaks were helpful as well as massage.

He managed to limit use of opiates for a very long time. He had trouble with constipation when he used opiates so he avoided them until they became an absolute necessity. Of all things though, obviously opiates were the most helpful and if you need them, you need them. I second the notion that the stigma need go out the window here. There is no reason to suffer. He found dilauded and morphine both equally effective.

Dexamethasone was also a pretty big help for him as well. The dex also seemed to provide an energy boost that helped him motivate to stay active. I know it seems counterintuitive, but the more he moved the better he felt both in body and spirit. Best advice- Move as much as you can for as long as you can. It really is the best medicine. My best to you.

what opiods are you taking that are not working? are you taking abiraterone? did you know that it blocks the conversion of codeine to morphine and therefor will stop oxy codon from working? i take plain old morphine for pain. i have not found cannabinoids to be useful but will try again if my pain gets out of control

I sympathise with you. I also have pain. My recent whole body scan showed a fracture on my T9 vertebrae. My prostate cancer ( first diagnosed in 2016 as T3NOM1) had originally spread to my T11 vertebrae and after radiation and chemotherapy my nadir became <0.01 until 2021 in when my psa began to climb and a new lesion was found on my T11. After SBRT radiation my psa returned to <0.01 until recently it became 0.02. My MO believes there is a weakness in that area and caused the fracture and therefore pain. She put me on Palaxia, which didn’t agree with me at all. I developed breathlessness and lethargy. My GP then put me onto Targin, which had similar side effects. Having pulmonary fibrosis ( with 50% lung capacity) has not helped me. 2 weeks ago my MO put me on 1-2 mls of morphine morning and night, which has helped me a lot and reduced breatheless and even helped with peripheral neuropathy ( which I have had since chemo treatment) in my thighs. The major side effects are constipation and sinus issues. However I would strongly recommend the morphine.

same side effects here, try Vicks in your nose once or twice a day and for the constipation use about half a cap full of Miralax in your morning drink. You will have to adjust the dose up or down depending on your body. Works for me

wow that’s a deep subject. My doctor said at the start that there was no need of me being in pain. At first they had me on fentanyl, worked great but won’t let my med Xtandi work. Been on Ms Cotin ever since ( morphine). Works ok bu,t not great. Would love to try some assorted pot but problem is ,it interferes with the Xtandi. What a mess. Keep up the battle warrior 🙏

I agree with BrightMan as I'm now on TARGIN too (I'm in Australia) and I think it's a wonder drug. Have been on it for a few months now. Almost no pain now and I've been sleeping better now than any time in the last 3 years of this battle. I know it's an opioid but I've given up caring now as it works for me 😊

My husband is covered in mets and Morphine takes most of the pain away. When he does have some break through pain, I apply essential oils to target those spots. The pain is mainly on the back and shoulder blade. What has helped is Copiaba and Helicrism rubbed in. We use the brand Doterra and get the pre mixed roller bottles.

This APC game is all about pain relief. I believe that when mets are growing, they cause pain. Growth of mets is what we need to avoid. I avoid red meat, (beef and pork fat), because they seem to encourage growth. I drink lycopene -rich V8 or Gac juice each morning to kill pain but also to reduce growth of mets. Also during the day I eat lycopene rich foods to keep up my serum lycopene, tomato-based foods and condiments, mostly. When the mets grow, I apply heat, I mean over 110 degrees F, using heating pads or hot showers or other means. I have non-met pains also which I reduce with muscle rub and salon-pas or tylenol.

Before brining out the big guns, try adding an antihistamine like Clariton (generic much cheaper) or Benidryl.

Sometimes it really helps minimize the inflamation in the area of the mets. For me it works quickly when I have a flare
