Duloxetine - Lack of Motivation

Hi All :)

First time posting - I was diagnosed with CFS and Fibromyalgia about 3 years ago after having symptoms for over 10 years prior. I always worked full time through the pain, I had so many 'crashes' a year but dealt with them as they came. However, I stopped working in January after a really bad attack from both the Fibro and CFS and I'm now waiting to attend a residential pain management programme next month. Opiates and NSAID's don't even make a dent in the pain, and I'm very allergic to Amitriptyline, so Duloxetine is really the last chance saloon in terms of sourcing medication for pain management, and I have been on 60mg now for about 2 months. I've found that, although my pain is reduced to a much more manageable level, my fatigue has slightly increased, but my motivation is now non-existent. I've always been someone who has done my best to push through and now I just don't care about anything, I don't care about pushing myself and I'm becoming lazy, and this just really isn't me and I don't feel like this will help at all in my recovery because I don't have that willpower to get my body moving or to get dressed or to really do anything!!! Has anyone else had this issue with Duloxetine, and if so how have you managed it? I don't feel depressed, I just can't motivate myself and I'm finding it really frustrating - so much so that I'm considering going cold turkey because I don't really want to live like this.

Hi

I take Amitriptyline at night it doesn’t dull the pain that much. I experimented with Prednisolone which I found more beneficial and am on day 5 of no other painkillers.

I’m not saying it is a wonder drug as I have also had EMDR therapy as fibromyalgia was triggered by a very traumatic sexual assault. I believe processing the trauma has also contributed to my flare ending.

Good luck
