Shingles Vaccination
According to posters in my GPs' waiting room, I am now eligible for the shingles jab. However, I seem to remember advice on this forum saying that it's not advisable for patients receiving prednisolone. I have been looking at the Government's guidance for practitioners and unearthed the following: "

Newborn with aseptic meningitis
Hi. My newborn was diagnosed with meningitis on day 5. He was treated for 7 days and watched closely in the hospital. He had nothing abnormal in his blood or urine. His LP showed elevated levels of white blood in the 500's. Nothing ever grew from his cultures and they said he had aseptic meningitis.

Hi I am after any hints/tips etc. Have been on methotrexate for about 6 weeks now, seem to be tolerating it Ok. Feeling a bot nauseous and tired for a few days after, but coping Ok with it ( after some pretty horrendous vomiting with azathioprine, anything is an improvement) Anyway woke up this morning

Water, water everywhere.
We are told to keep drinking water. Especially tap water. For myself the tap water in London tastes and smells horrible. So I used to spend (waste) money on buying bottled water. My mother would say that I had more money than sense. However, I was told to try boil tap water. Let it cool then pour it

Post encephalitis
feeling isolated after recovering from encephalitis & not having much support from local consultants at my hospital or doctors as no one seems to think that any of my problems are down to having had encephalitis & if I'm honest they don't seem to have a clue about ongoing & lasting effects this has changed

Shingles & Flare
I haven't posted for about 10 months. Last I was moving back to our home after working away for three years. The move went well, we had almost 5 months at home, and being winter we got a lot of work done on inside of our house. It was fun and aside from the odd day on the couch it all went well.

Low GFR
My GFR went from 54 in 2014, to 41 last month. My cholesterol is 254. I have to go redo my blood tests in 2 month. My GP told me that he is baffled at why my GFR keeps dropping. My blood pressure is good, I am not a diabetic. After reading all of your posts, I think I know why GFR is decreasing. I have

Coming off NSAIDs for the week - what else can I take without affecting blood tests?
Just that, really... I'm seeing the rheumy next Monday, and I'm following advice given here and elsewhere to come off NSAIDs for a week before, to make sure my blood tests reflect my 'natural', unmedicated state. I'm fretting about managing my pain... Can I take paracetamol/codeine, or will they affect

Doctors / tests
So I went back to the doctors yesterday as I'm not coping with hardly anything at the moment. Think I might have to quit my job if I carry on the way I'm going :( So anyway he put me on nepofam and clomipramine. He also ran some blood tests iron, b 12, inflammation, rhumatoid factor etc (the usual).

Migraines from viral meningitis
Dear all, I had viral meningitis in October 2012 and its nearly 3 years after now! I have chronic migraines from the VM and have had for over 2 years. Off and on. Sometimes more on than off. I am trying botox injections from my neurologist every 3 months as well as daily propranolol and endep. Just wondering

Help/Advice..
Hi guys, I'm new to community, so first of all- Hello!! I feel like i've been going in a bit of a circle recently, and just wanted to reach out for some help or advice, or anything really! For as long as I can remember, I have always had horrendous periods- sickness, bloating, tiredness, cramps.

Post Bacterial Meningitis
I'm curious to know if anyone has had a bout of Impetigo at any point in their lives following Bacterial Meningitis? A few weeks ago I developed what I thought was a pimple at the right side of my mouth. It quickly became clear that it was no ordinary spot, it grew, formed a horrid crust and wept. It
