Have been on methotrexate for about 6 weeks now, seem to be tolerating it Ok. Feeling a bot nauseous and tired for a few days after, but coping Ok with it ( after some pretty horrendous vomiting with azathioprine, anything is an improvement)
Anyway woke up this morning with sore throat, boils on thighs (suffer with boils anyway), and ulcers in mouth. Ache all over and generally feel pretty grotty.
Do you think this is just bad timing or a delayed side effect to metho. (increased dose this weekend so not too sure if this is to blame)
Literature says about contacting doctor if you have a sore throat, but would feel a bit silly about asking for an appointment.
cheers. xx

So sorry to read your feeling grotty on Metho!. You must follow what the literature says and tell your GP if you have a sore throat, she won't think your silly as these are serious drugs especially as you've just upped the dose!.
Hope you feel better soon and you get good advice.X
cheers, I am at the hospital tomorrow anyway. Throat not too bad this morning, but the boils are really sore and painful, can hardly sit down with them being on the backs of my legs. Hoping it is just a coincidence as I suffer with boils regularly and have only just finished a course of antibiotics about 3 weeks ago.
Hi. I have been on methotrexate for more than 8years. I have always been told that if I need antibiotics I must stop metho until course has finished. As you have been on antibiotics whilst taking metho this could be why you are unwell. It is very important to see your GP if you have sore throat. They will not think you are being trivial. Methotrexate is a very powerful drug, you must be aware of side effects etc., But always speak to your doctor about any concerns you have. I hope you will feel better soon.
Thanks for this I saw the nurse yesterday and I have got to miss my dose this weekend. Only started the antibiotics on Monday and took metho on Saturday so no clash there. Had bloods done and she is going to look ut for them and get back to me if anything flags up. Still got ulcers and boils though, hopefully should start to feel better soon. thx. xx
