NSAID use & Cancer Mortality in Finland
New study below [1]. I like these Nordic studies. Researchers have access to records for everone. No death escapes the database; ditto prescription drug use. Although the study was part of the Finnish Prostate Cancer Screening Trial, the scope was all cancer mortality & NSAID use. 80,144 men "aged

Shingles
Due to have the second of my 2 rituximab infusions for RA last Thursday but started with shingles, yet again! So infusion cancelled and am on antiviral treatment for seven days. Has anyone else had a problem with cancelled treatments? How long can be left between infusions for it still to work? Will

VISUAL CONTRAST SENSITIVITY TEST may reveal conditions with underlying infections like biotoxins, lyme disease and deficiencies.
This is an interesting test you can do online for free even though they would like a $10 donation but not necessary. There are certain markers in your test showing where the weaknesses may be. I wouldn't try to diagnose anything from it but if you have high scores it may give you a lift. I think

Shingles?
Is sexual intercourse the ONLY way of catching Shingles? I was raped by a female, she got me drunk, then did her business, I DO NOT remember anything about it, I was only told about it later. That was the only time I have ever had sexual intercourse. I have epilepsy, scholiosis and NF2, so stayed well

But when I developed AF I was put on Warfarin and told not to take any more and told to take up to 2000mg .. acetaminophen

The LSN are involved in some research into cellulitis and have been asked to encourage as many of you as are able to fill in the online questionnaire linked below - it only take a few minutes and may lead to some very relevant further studies. Please use the link below or copy and paste into your search

Ibuprofen – just because it’s freely available, doesn’t make it safe
Not CLL related, but more along the lines of where familiarity may result in us overlooking something we've long considered safe to take and which may longer be the case when we start taking other drugs for comorbidities that become more likely as we age... Self medicating
I think if I go down root of self medicating I won't b advising my gp of what I'm doing.prob won't even notice now, as endo discharged me she won't check my bloods for another year, so will have to arrange myself. But what about the poor people with very limited funds who can't afford to self medicate.it

Chicken pox virus
I have had a cataract operation and can now see to post :) . Something that has been bothering me is a link that was posted awhile ago about GCA being linked to the Shingles virus. I have had GCA since 2012 and recently ( last June) came down with shingles. At the time someone else posted that her

NSAIDs
This is a follow-up to my aspirin post. The literature on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug [NSAID] use suggests differential effects on PCa risk. There is not much consistency between the studies. Men who take NSAIDS chronically have a different health profile to those who don't. Even those who

Fighting TB Meningitis

introduction
Hi, I developed psoriatic arthropathy when about 25 - I am now in my 60's. Apart from the initial 6 months I have controlled the disease with a small amount of NSAIDs per year. This last year has been very different - a complete explosion with any amount of NSAIDs having little effect. Eventually

Shingles, fibromyalgia and Hashimoto's
My wife is a long term Hashimoto's sufferer and has been on T4 only for 46 years and more. Accompanying this has been fibromyalgia almost from the outset which comes and goes at intervals. Recently she developed shingles, which was not only painful in itself, but gingered up her fibromyalgia very badly
