https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6954292/ Hi Fellow Warriors, above is a new and very detailed article on, all things Androgens with respect to prostate cancer. LOTS of fantastic tables and graphics. It helps to open a seperate window for the pathways to follow along with the article.

PD link allergic rhinitis like “hay-fever” and histamine
Allergic forms of rhinitis also appear to be PD-sensitive or possibly even the causative agent of PD for many. On mg search I came across a 2006 study by Dr. James Bower (Mayo Clinic) that at the time already demonstrated the relationship between allergic rhinitis (histamine) and PD. https://www.sciencedaily.com

Shingles vaccine
Has anyone here has the shingles vaccine? I know that the usual one is a live vaccine but the nurse at the surgery told me that there is a two-dose non-live one I could have if it didn’t compromise my condition. I do have a haematology phone appointment coming up but not for a few weeks yet so I wondered

Shingles vaccine to have or not to have
My rheumie has recommended that I have the shingles jab. and informed the vaccination centre. A lady from there phoned me regarding this and I said I would prefer the non-live vaccine as opposed to the live one. She said that I could not choose as the nurse would decide after seeing me. I was diagnosed

Bruising
HiI was diagnosed stage 3b ckd in July, age 64. After following a low salt diet and cutting out nsaids, my egfr was 48, last tested in August. My question is, excessive bruising. Is this normal with ckd. I've lately, past few years, had a lot of bad bruising on my hands, the slightest knock and a red

Lumbar injection after shingles CLL
Hi everyone, I had shingles six months ago, leaving me with nerve problems in my left leg. I have received an appointment for a lumbar puncture which has left me a bit worried, is this because they think something is going on with the CLL in my spine? I can't ask the specialist as I have no follow-up

Newbie here, tests/symptoms suggest PA or AAG
Hi everyone. My medical adventures have been ongoing for years but, like many others, I have struggled to find a definitive diagnosis for my symptoms. My spouse is the only person I've shared all this with. He's been by my side and supportive throughout numerous doctors shrugging their shoulders — and

Relax and Restore
Just wonder what you do when you need some downtime, in "me" mode. (My issues are mostly fatigue /low energy and pain.). Recently I came to grips with the idea of taking pain meds (just didn't like idea, fearful, stubborn, etc). So I take Tylenol and a low dose prescription as needed. They can be taken

Is it possible to have a flare up of PMR without a change in predisolone dosage?
I have had PMR for over 2 years & I'm currently on 12mg of Pred. I have seen a Rheumatologist & started Methotrexate on 15th September10mg once a week but I have not started reducing the Pred yet. For the last 4-5 days I have been feeling cold, tired & aching all over & feel like I've got the flu.

Hell is back in town
Pram withdrawal hell is back. I’ve been withdrawing by half a tablet every fortnight. The last month, I’ve been pretty good with RLS. Not so with PLMD. Since I dropped last Sunday down to 2 pram per day, RLS and PLMD have gone into overdrive. I’m getting a couple of hours sh1ty sleep each night. I hate

Complete thyroidectomy & meds
Hello everyone ! I had a complete thyroidectomy in August. Initially, I had been taking the generic Levothyroxine. I immediately had horrible symptoms of crushing depression and extreme fatigue. My doctor boosted me up to 125 mg and there was no difference. I looked online and read that some people

How did we arrive at Disease?
I’ve often wondered how I ended up with Parkinson’s. Well the advent of Cov-vid may have inadvertently shed a light on this question. I began reading anecdotal reports, and articles saying that some people getting the cov-vid shot were experiencing a metallic taste in their mouth immediately following

Confused
I'm sorry if this is a bit long and rambling, but I'm feeling a bit lost and confused and not sure where to turn. I originally posted on here in June when my Osteopath suspected PMR and wrote to my GP asking her to investigate. Eventually, I was given an ESR test which came back 'normal' so no further

shingles question
Hi, just wondered how dangerous it would be to if I were to come into contact with someone with shingles? My disabled daughter who lives in supported living has shingles and I’m due to see her soon. I’m now on 6mg prednisone- am I less compromised as it’s a lower dose? Thanks

Hi everyone, just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced joint inflammation flare ups after their covid booster. I had Pfizer last week and developed very bad upper neck pain, pain in wrists, elbows, upper back area. I had the Pfizer booster last December and didn’t have any joint problems after it.

Unknown Diagnosis
Recently seen Rheumatologist. Again, she states it is not PMR. She doesn’t know what is causing the systemic inflammation and the physical symptoms. I accepted the fact, and now committed to treat the symptoms despite not knowing diagnosis. Off prednisone and only taking NSAIDS. After reading about Long
