Hypothyroidism & Dopamine Deficiency?
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anybody had had any personal experiences with the combination of conditions mentioned above? I was diagnosed as Hypo in Sept '14 (not Hashi) and thyroxine (now up to 125mcg) has 'balanced' my levels but not done much for me. Given the results of my recent gene tests

Have you ever suffered a dopamine agonist trigger persistent OH? (orthostatic hypotension: low blood pressure / dizzyness upon standing)
After 2 weeks of a low dosage of a dopamine agonist, I got OH - I suddenly became unable to stand for more than a few seconds without fainting. When this first occurred I actually did pass out as a result of attempting to remain standing. Needless to say, I immediately quit the dopamine agonist, but

Desperately Depressed and Need to Overcome Food Addiction
Hi everyone, I have always been overweight. I've never lacked confidence, or felt too bad about it. I've always been, "I am who I am". Until now. I'm 32, a size 28 female, and I have a partner who has just managed to turn his whole life around from a drug addiction to now losing weight. He loves

'Designer Dopamine Neurons' in Reach
The discovery of a "gatekeeper" protein that inhibits one cell type's ability to morph into another cell type, and the subsequent discovery of a means to unlock that "gate" by dimming the expression of that protein, clears the way for a completely new means by which to convert readily available skin

Rytary for DBS
I had Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery in Feb 2015. Very successful since my main symptom was tremor which was totally controlled by Dopamine (generic carbodopa/levadopa). That is the situation the DBS surgery is designed for. I decided to try Rytary and haven't found the right dosage yet.

Really struggling to know what to do
Hi all. I've not yet officially been diagnosed with Parkinson's because I've never had the typical symptom of tremor. During my first visits to my neurologists they did the usual "quick" tests to see if I fell over when they pushed me, asked me to walk 10 metres and back as they watched me, tried

Anyone get RLS as a withdrawal symptom trying to ween off Mirapex or another Dopamine agonist?
I try to wean off Pramipexole (Mirapex) periodically and my body does not let me do it.. I get RLS - either from withdrawal -OR- I got RLS since I started taking Mirapex and did not know it until trying to eliminate it. I wish I never started taking the sh*t. I believe it is highly addictive. Anyone

Keeping Step with Parkinson's: Balance, Posture and Gait
Balance, posture and gait issues are some of the most troublesome and difficult to treat Parkinson's symptoms. While tremor and muscle rigidity can be treated with dopamine replacement therapy, these medications are less useful when it comes to how you walk and maintain your balance. Dr. Chris Hass

Clonazepam, benzodiazepines & alternatives.
Maybe a naive question, but having benefitted from clonazepam for a year or so my plmd is now increasingly resistant. Is this resistance specific to clonazepam or is it likely to be generic to any other benzodiazepine I might try as an alternative? If I've had it with benzodiazepines, what SRIs or dopamine

Ordering a-Syn blockers in bulk. Master list of nutrients for PD.
I'm going to order the following plant extracts in bulk from China as powders and mix them for storage and later mixing in drinks. I'll dump the powders in a 5 gallon bucket, shake, bottle, and label according to FDA. I'm already taking about 2/3 of them. Let me know if I'm missing anything. I
