Basic dopamine question
I'm hoping one ye clever cats can help me understand something. Dopamine is made in the following way: Phenylalanine -> tyrosine -> l-dopa -> dopamine Who is responsible for doing this? Is it the dopamine neuron job or is it just the neuron's job to deliver the dopamine across the brain once it's produced

Effects of Coming off Rotigitone (Neupro Patches
Can anyone share with me experience of coming off Rotigitone please. I've been on 2mg patches for around 15 years but they had started not to be as effective as they had been. Having read about augmentation on here I didn't want to increase the dose. I started on Gaberpentine just before Christmas

Has your PD symptoms changed since taking a MAO-B inhibitor (see list of meds below)?
The article, "Waking up dormant dopaminergic neurons to reverse Parkinson's disease" claims a MAO-B inhibitor could wake up dopamine producing neurons. This question is to see how MAO-B inhibitors have affected people here. List of MAO-B inhibitors: Eldepryl® (selegiline hydrochloride) Carbex® (selegiline

PSP Treatment
We live in a small country town and my husband is only able to see a neurologist every six months. At the last visit he said he thought John had PSP and an MRI has confirmed this. He has been treated for PD for five years and is still taking dopamine. These tablets usually make him feel awful. I

Wellbutrin
Hello all. I am writing about my 88 year old husband who has suffered from RLS for about 8 years....very severe. He has tried everything and is now on 7.25 mg of methadone plus three iron infusions in the past 12 months. . Those really helped but his ferretin levels are too high now for another infusion

Ways various PD treatments deplete essential chemicals.
https://www.dovepress.com/parkinsonrsquos-disease-managing-reversible-neurodegeneration-peer-reviewed-fulltext-article-NDT The above is an interesting read, including various pathways that are depleted with PD treatments. Also this was interesting: Should mucuna and 5-HTP be used instead of sinemet

80 ice cold baths - UPDATE
Two months ago I started and tomorrow I will grit my teeth for the last time. I have managed one a day, occasionally two but not often 😳. They have become considerably colder as the weather gets frostier and so does my water tank in the attic!! I've made it, even though halfway I felt I couldn't go

Neurologist
Hi everyone I saw my third neurologist today a young female who seemed a lot more understanding than the previous two. When I told her I didn't want to go down the path of trying another dopamine agonist she suggested that I goin to Gabapentin tarting with 100mg three times a day end increasing gradually

Agonist vs Dopamine
Being recently diagnosed with PD ( June 2019 ), I am confused. My first Neurologist prescribed Sinemet. 1 pill 2 x per day, upping this dosage after 2 weeks to 2 pills twice a day. I noticed a " fog clearing " after the first night. Encouraging. We sought a second opinion because of difficulties

Does L-Tyrosine also cause augmentation
I have recently come off an OTC L-Dopa supplement because it was causing augmentation. I'm trying to get my dopamine levels to restore naturally and am wondering whether I should take L-Tyrosine (which is the amino acid building block for L-Dopa, found in eggs, cheese, meat, etc). I would be doing so

Early Hypo/Hashi's Complicated By Adrenal/Low Cortisol
Greetings everyone: Finally got fed up with my family doctor who knows nothing and went two routes - endocrinologist (my doctor reluctantly gave a referral) and naturopath. Symptoms I have just about every symptom of hypothyroidism I have ever read and I am confirmed Hashi's by antibodies and ultrasound
