Pramipexole
I tried 1 pill of Cymbalta. Disaster!!! I was awake ALL night, my left leg bouncing something fierce. The next day my right leg started going crazy and while I was driving. Good thing for cruise control... I called my doc and told her about the Cymbalta and she prescribed a new one that is pramipexole

Gut microbiota and metabolites of α-synuclein transgenic monkey models with early stage of Parkinson’s disease - Sept 2021
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41522-021-00242-3 Did I understand this report? No. It is open access, so you get to read it all. There's lots of interesting stuff in the "Discussion" section. I just read through it and hoped something useful would get stuck in my head. I think a few things did:

What is Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) and How Can I Make More of it?
Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4, sometimes THB) is a vital cofactor for numerous enzymes in the body, including those involved in the formation of nitric oxide (NO), and the key neurotransmitters dopamine, serotonin and epinephrine. https://www.mygenefood.com/blog/tetrahydrobiopterin-bh4-can-make/

Statin use may have a detrimental effect (faster increase in levodopa & dementia conversion )

Paper on meds that help DA withdrawal
Hello, can anyone please point me to a paper that details the drugs that can assist with dopamine agonist withdrawal, so that I can share with my doctor? I am stepping down from ropinirole now (due to augmentation, of course) and it is horrible. My doctor, who doesn’t know a lot about RLS (but is open

Antioxidant Urate (Inosine) Fails to Slow Early Disease Progression
Posting this as some of the members were discussing Inosine as far as I remember.
The antioxidant urate failed to slow Parkinson’s disease progression in newly diagnosed patients over two years, according to data from a Phase 3 clinical trial. “While our study did not rule out a protective effect

CDNF, Potential DMT for Parkinson’s, May Work as Nasal Spray
A potential Parkinson’s therapy based on a protein with an ability to protect neurons — called recombinant (lab-made) human cerebral dopamine neurotrophic factor (rhCDNF) — has been transformed into tiny nanoparticles that may allow for its use as a nasal spray, Herantis Pharma, its developer, announced

The Thermodynamic Consequences of Parkinson's Disease
Several lines of evidence point to a pervasive disturbance of energy balance in Parkinson's disease (PD). Weight loss, common and multifactorial, is the most observable sign of this. Bradykinesia may be best understood as an underinvestment of energy in voluntary movement. This accords with rodent experiments

Gabapentin not working as yet
Hi Ive been on gabapentin for 5 weeks now. I previously posted saying my doctor had prescribed 100mgs 3 times daily. I was advised on forum as I thought, that this dose was useless, and I'd be better taking at night and upping dose gradually. So I'm now to to 900mgs at night but still not seeing

DHEA/Cortisol Ratio is Low
I recently had serum, saliva and urine tests to confirm an elevated cortisol diurnal. My ACTH has been elevated for the past 6 months and it has thrown me off w/thyroid meds (Synthroid). I was on 75, then on 50, now on 62.5 consistently for 8+ weeks. I really don't know what's happening with the ACTH

My solution for RLS
Last year i got rls syndrome and very bad symptoms, didnt sleep all nights, mostly 2,5 hours interrupted. Totally panicked thinking this would be my life. it was horible. Looked into the medicines but found as a highly sensitive person I probably would get a lot of the side effects so decided not to

no one size fits all
I'm sure that I'm not on my own when I say that the land of ADHD is full of interesting mazes with no exits signs. I was diagnosed as an older adult and consequently medicated with Adderall. The effects of the drug are largely positive, though I think my body has built up a tolerance to it over time

Stopping meds
I wanted to see what the effects might be. How soon does the body deteriorate after stopping L-Dopa? I stopped Rytary 9 days ago. I've had two mild bouts of dizziness. And as can be seen on this shopping list my hand writing has gone from bad to worse. I wondered if there might be withdrawal

Niagen alleviates Parkinson’s disease symptoms but downregulates dopamine metabolism?
I understand that the B3 study used Niacin, but I was researching NR and found this report from March showing eventually NR lowers dopamine (based on worms and mice). Now I'm wondering if this might apply to Niacin also? (I still take 250 mg of Niacin at night and 50 mg more in the afternoon. "We

Balance with dopamine / choline receptors
Parkinson do we need to supplement choline or do we have to much choline, if we are not making dopamine will it cause to much choline and is that what causes tremors? I tried entacapone for 4 days and gave me dysknesia, I even cut pill in half, it seemed worse in the morning , I'm thinking my ER night

Apitherapy for Parkinson’s Disease: A Focus on the Effects of Propolis and Royal Jelly - 2020
I switched from Google to DuckDuckGo and found this surprising article. https://www.hindawi.com/journals/omcl/2020/1727142/ 5. Evidence from Preclinical Studies The effects of both propolis and its flavonoids and RJ and its lipids on PD were examined both in vivo and in vitro. The findings indicate that

Nitrazepam
To help me sleep occasionally, I take half a Nitrazepam 5mg tablet about every 7-10 days, which has been effective up to now. I am reading on here that dopamine agents can make RLS worse over time. Is it safe to moderate it like I do (i.e. about half a tablet every 7-10 days) without getting any adverse

Serum tsh level doubled
As suggested by the forum I had more comprehensive tests done on my thyroid function following the hemithyroidectomy in April 21. These are my results from tests done early morning before eating and before taking my parkinson's medication which includes levadopa and a dopamine agonist (Ropinorole).

Should I pursue teaching or another career?
I’m currently enrolling for the elementary education k-5 degree to be a teacher. Things I noticed today at our summer program for school age kids. We were playing monopoly and I get hyper focused where I wanted to keep playing when another student needs help with something such as ironing fusebeads and
