Targeting α-synuclein aggregation and its role in mitochondrial dysfunction in Parkinson's disease
Abstract Lewy bodies that contain aggregated α-synuclein in dopamine neurons are the main culprit for neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease. However, mitochondrial dysfunction has a well-established and prominent role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. The exact mechanism by which α-synuclein

Critical step forward in understanding Parkinson's disease and how to treat it
A new study sheds the light of that dopamine neurons are crucial in pathophysiology of PD " These neurons are pacemakers that continuously fire action potentials regardless of excitatory inputs from other neurons," he adds. "Their pacemaking property is very important to their function and underlies

Pain, Stenosis, C/L and Parkinson
Cervical stenosis of the neck and spine of the back. The neck is more acute than the back. I am taking generic Caridopa / Levodopa 2 tabs 100/25 every 4 hours Taking a C/L tablet help relieve pain for 3-4 hours. I'm wondering which of these two paths seems to be more accurate? 1) C/L tablet

Midlife milk consumption and substantia nigra neuron density at death
The researchers found that subjects who drank more than 2 cups of milk per day during their midlife years had approximately 40% fewer dopamine neurons Interesting article re Dairy product consumption and associated risk of Parkinson’s, https://scienceofparkinsons.com/2022/05/10/dairy/#more-66729

New Hope for Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease: Designer Neurons

Such cells not only survive the grafting procedure and manufacture dopamine, but send out their branching fibers through the neural tissue to

ADHD and PD
I’ve just been diagnosed with ADHD. Seeing as both ADHD and Parkinson’s involve lack of dopamine I’m surprised more people with PD aren’t diagnosed with ADHD. Sinemet doesn’t affect the ADHD symptoms for me. I’ve been prescribed Ritalin. Does anyone else here have ADHD?

Lyrica ocular side effects and more
I am an optometrist in Colorado with severe RLS symptoms. This forum is an excellent method of sharing information on a complicated multifactorial enigma that desperately needs some solution to this pharmacologic mess. Maybe somebody can get more clues to give better relief without the nasty side effects

Coffee & caffeine: can the benefits of coffee be replicated without coffee?
Coffee is said to increase cortisol. Caffeine is said to increase anxiety. I need to reduce both but I drink coffee daily for its neuro protective benefits. Can I finally say goodbye to coffee and replicate these benefits via a different means? I’m revisiting this subject because I’m really tired
