New to ropinirole
My first time at a new neurologist. He started me on ropinirole 0.25mg 1/day at 7pm. I take 600mg gabapentin at 5pm and 9pm. He convinced me that I don't have CMT but have RLS. My feet are rather numb, and my ankles and shins hurt occasionally. I believe this is peripheral neuropathy, but he did not

A question about ashwagandha?
I was looking up this herb for interactions on the pharmacuetical database I subscribe to and read the following. I am concerned about any herb that could suppress dopamine, does the statement below mean that dopamine is also reduced which is not good effect for PD? I know many folks with and without

Role of the adrenals in my tremor and dopamine deficiency
I am wondering if I am alone in being aware of the connection between my adrenals and my dopamine deficiency and resulting tremors. I’d appreciate all feedback, whether academic or incidental. Firstly, I definitely have a dopamine deficiency because my dexterity can return to perfect for the small windows

Anyone want to share their story about going undiagnosed with ADHD until adulthood?
I'm in my 30s and was just diagnosed a couple months ago. I was going through a tough time a while back and I didn't know what was wrong. I was craving sugar like a fiend and completely lost my appetite. I spent days googling what may be the problem. I randomly stumbled across an article about how the

ADHD career advice
After working in property management for 15 years I decided to quit and become a stay at home mom. I felt overwhelmed trying to run a house, kids, marriage, and career so I quit my job. Now at home I am restless so I started taking college classes to help with the lack of dopamine. However I'm not

Pioneering stem-cell trials in Japan report promising early results
Professor Jun Takahashi is involved in one trial expected to report results soon, in which researchers used donor-derived iPS cells to generate neurons that produce dopamine. Dividing the dose
There was a talk about dopamine levels and tolerance. How to avoid this by intermittent dosing. How the brain responds more strongly to surprise levels of dopamine. I've been trying this by dividing the dose of 3 madopar every 4 hours into 2s and 1s. And sometimes taking 2nd dose early before 1st

Recent preprint by Jeff Kordower et al. suggests tau (not alpha-syn) is the initial pathology in nigrostriatal dopamine neuron degeneration
"These data should change our thinking of PD pathology and therapies directed towards reducing pathological tau might be a better strategy than those directed at α-syn." Research paper preprint (not yet peer-reviewed): Is Tau the Initial Pathology in Dopaminergic Nigrostriatal Degeneration? Studies

I wrote the following in response to a member on this sight and thought I would share with everyone. "I am taking the very small amount of Bupropian. I was prescribed 300mg daily but if I go over 12 mg the anxiety and headaches are unbearable. I was on prozac for 25 years. For me it was calming and

Creativity as therapy?
This is a question from a forum newbie, I wonder if any others have found arts and crafts can help with RLS. I've had RLS for many years, Ropinirole lets me sleep (been taking for years; lucky, no augmentation yet) but is no help during the day. I find if I do painting, drawing, mosaic, sewing... even

what else is deficient in PD? Norepinephrine?
should PD patients be supplementing other chemicals, neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine (NE) as well as dopamine? How would one supplement NE?

If you're suffering from RLS, ead this. I suffered for 20 yrs before finding a solution.
I've dealt with symptoms of RLS for 20yrs & it's the worst torture I've ever endured. I got tired of masking my symptoms and never finding the underlying cause or a cure. After years or research I came across an article that gave me all the answers I'd been seeking and my life hasnt been the same.

ECOPIPAM for AugmentationUPDATE
Some of you may remember that small trials of Ecopipam, a D1 antagonist were carried out by William Ondo inTexas in 2019 and showed encouraging initial results in treating Augmentation on Dopamine Agonists. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00207454.2020.1838515 Dr Stefan Clements at

Phenylethylamine is NOT Palmitoylethanolamide! They are both called PEA. I take Palmitoylethanolamide
It is really unfortunate that both Phenylethylamine and Palmitoylethanolamide are called PEA as they are totally different supplements.
I take Palmitoylethanolamide.
A quick Google of Phenylethylamine +Parkinson's finds: Contribution of β-phenethylamine, a component of chocolate and wine

'Too much' brain calcium may cause Parkinson's
Before my diagnosis I always had Low level of Vitamin D (like many of Pwpd) and High level of PTH (Parathyroid hormone) but normal calcium level. This study is from 2018 but Calcium concept has been intriguing me for years specially after I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Parkinson's disease.
