Has anyone tried Nicotine to reduce Dyskinesia?
I am wondering if anyone has tried Nicotine to reduce severe episodes of dyskinesia brought on by levadopa. I watched some amazing videos by a girl named Jasmine Sturr. She has has early onset pediatric PD. She ended up doing DBS and then inventing her own levadopa pump with her feeding tube. She went

How should you break your fast?
There are about as many different strategies for breaking a fast as there are for fasting. Carbohydrate spikes blood glucose, which spikes insulin, which rapidly brings down your blood glucose - making you hungry. I do not need to be on a keto or very low carb diet, and my regular daily carb breakfast

Hi, I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if this has been asked before. I have recently been diagnosed with Hashimotos and I'm currently taking 75mg of thyroxine. To be honest due to stress and depression I have badly neglected my health and I didnt take my medication regularly. I'm now ready to

Dr David Unwin interview – fatty liver, raised GGT, triglycerides, hypertension, diabetes, weight loss
Newly published interview with the lovely NHS GP Dr David Unwin. They discuss how and why he started treating his patients with low carb, plus some of the other health benefits he has discovered along the way over the past 7 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QizJhk4DaUY I appreciate it’s not directly

In need of help!
My mother has Chronic Kidney Disease. Her kidneys only have 30% function due to damage from a medication she was put on. Now, she has to go on a low-carb low potassium diet, and we have no access to a dietitian since we're in a rural area! Her new kidney specialist has basically told her to do this without

Ketogenic diet helps tame flu virus.
A high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet like the Keto regimen has its fans, but influenza apparently isn’t one of them. Mice fed a ketogenic diet were better able to combat the flu virus than mice fed food high in carbohydrates, according to a new Yale University study published Nov. 15 in the journal Science

LCHF, Keto... Intermittent Fasting seem to do some of us good - BUT, what about our immune system?
A lowered immune system can afflict many of us with hypothyroidism, adrenal issues, CFS/ME... stuff that many of us have accumulated over the years. How about this re influenza? https://medicalxpress.com/news/2019-11-ketogenic-diet-flu-virus.html?fbclid=IwAR1geNIfF_VU4Tl_f9Sc5Aj9c1hC7S-YlzUK_mMYfDFMBg-Fq6xSEMDfGrA

Science shows meat causes insulin spikes
I would be interested in low-carbers take on the science presented here which shows how paleo and low carb diets cause insulin spikes by as much as just sugar, far more than carbohydrates. Please don't just criticise Dr Greger - I am talking about the science here, not the messenger. Also I don't want

So many symptoms
Don't want to make this post too long so I'll try to be as short as I can. I drank very heavily in my 20s, cut down to binge drinking in my early 30s. Only drank around once a month by my mid thirties but I did have an accidental paracetamol over dose when all my symptoms started 2 years ago. The liver

Slow cooker, black beluga lentil sweet potato and veggie bake.
Hi everyone, I've been eating quite a lot of black lentils and green ones and they make a great alternative to a mince or processed veggie mince. Beluga black lentils are also a good source of iron as 40g cooked contains around 20% of our RDA of iron and I really like their taste. I made a stock with

A plateau and now looks like I’m on my way up again! 😱
Hi all, I almost 8 months into my low carb lifestyle and in the main I’ve been pretty pleased. But I’ve been going up and down with the same few lbs since August. I started at 202 and have been on the 170s for a couple of months. I saw a peek at 171 about three weeks ago but this morning 176! I suspect

Day 3
Hi guys and gals, back again. Currently on day three 50mg Pred. I’ve notice that the pain in my temple is almost gone when I wake up but by about 1 or 2pm it’s starts to return. Not bad just the usual tender throb. I take my Pred about 7am. Not sure how long it takes for symptoms to fully disappear

What's Happening???
So, I'm a bit confused. Had been on a good program with steady loss of about 1.5 lbs per week. Down about 17 lbs - traveled for about 6 weeks and maintained pretty well maybe up about a lb. I returned home last week and immediately went back to original program - LCHF. I might not have been perfect

Prednisone, and weight gain
Most of us have experienced this - it can be a real struggle to control weight when on corticosteroids. Until I tapered to under 12 mg even a very low carb diet did not have a significant impact on my weigh gain - and I was trying. Now at 10.5 mg weight loss has become MUCH easier. But this experience

Help with blood test results - taking too much levothyroxine?
Hello, I just got my results back (I'm still waiting for folate) from my latest blood test after starting levothyroxine earlier this year. I wasn't able to get a full thyroid panel (I'm overseas and it's not offered here) but I'm hoping you can give me some advice based on my results. I'm wondering if
