My GCA/LVV experience
My GCA/LVV experience is a warning that the disease does not always present in the typical way we are alert for. I had headaches but no jaw claudication, no tongue pain, no eye symptoms, particularly light flashes in one eye. I had, had fairly typical PMR for 4 years, predictable, bilateral pains in

Brain surgeon interview:
I am so enjoying this interview that I’m sharing it despite it not being PD specific. He has bettered my understanding of the brain in general, given me hope because neuro plasticity is proven, discussed the real power of breathing and meditation and at about 50 minutes he touches on DBS. He has a

Carbs and thyroid
sorry, none of you seem to have understood my question. I am not talking about low carb diets at all. I am asking if a high carb diet will cure an underactive thyroid in a person who is not on medicatrion. If so, where is the research and evidence and why don't endos, GPs etc. suggest adding extra

Are my symptoms consistent with B12 deficiency especially burning sensation.
Hi Hoping people can tell me if some weird symptoms I'm having are consistent with B12 deficiency. I'm in the UK London. I have started getting burning skin sensations - feels like someone applied deep heat when I wasn't looking. I get these on my forearms, shoulders, patches on my upper back. They

Which Levothyroxine Brand?
Hi all, Finally getting somewhere after going round in circles for months, I now have a prescription for Levo. Is there a brand better suited for people with Cow's Milk intolerance? Do you know whether the lactose in some brands would affect me, or likely to be ok given lactose is the sugar rather the

Well after all does weight really matter
Have just come off my first (and last ) cruise and I was staggered at the amount of people who were not just overweight but obese . Having carefully watched my weight for years and low fat diet plus plenty of exercise it didn’t stop me needing a bypass at 76 . So what am I missing I keep asking myself

INBRAIN PHARMA: direct injection of dopamine into the brain
Injecting dopamine directly into the brain using a small internal pump is what Lille researchers have succeeded in limiting the adverse effects of conventional drugs linked to Parkinson's disease. I wondered if anyone is kindly able to offer advice please. I recently lost my dad suddenly a month ago. I was able to carry on working for a 3 weeks, though I was upset, I was able to physically work. However last week because it was his funeral I went downhill on the Monday suffering with an enormous

Carb cravings and - Muffins!
Just a short one. One of the problems with transitioning to a largely low carb high fat lifestyle is the inevitable craving for bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. When I was a child it was only bread and potatoes - pasta was largely unknown, and rice was a pudding. Anyway, many, many low carb recipes

Low Protein Diet
I'm starting a low protein diet and allowed 46 grams a day. I have a few questions: (1) does this allowance involve both plant and animal protein; (2] if it involves plant protein, does the plant protein have to be "complete " proteins or just any proteins; (3) if I only eat 30 grams on a day, can

Memory worsening
I have recently increased my dose from 25/50 alternate days to 50 every day. My memory is worsening. I completely forgot my husband’s birthday today although I know I remembered it a few days back. I was writing my Dads birthday card last week and wrote To and then couldn’t remember what I was doing.

Private GP? Can they help?
Hi all, I have ordered a private blood tests this morning thanks to this group. Long story short I’m on 75mg of LEVO and have been for 6 years. I have been working with a PT on a calorie controlled gluten free diet for over 6 weeks with little results. The PT suggested I looked into T3 conversation

How to Increase BDNF
So somebody over on FB posted they were taking BDNF for PD anxiety (or maybe just for anxiety) so I Googled and found BDNF = Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor and BDNF supplements do not contain Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor. But I did find this article on strongcoffee.com. https://strongcoffeecompany.com
