Sweetness and blight: the mounting case against sugar
The entry ran to several pages, taking me from its composition (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen) to the various forms it takes (
dextrose
, fructose and so on), and then to its sources in nature (honey, cane, beet). Finally, there was a section titled “Sugar as a Food”.

Glucose Meters
I was with a friend recently and noticed him waving a small device at his arm and checking a reading. Turned out he is diabetic and finds this Abbott Freestyle device whicH works using a sensor on your arm, very useful. He is able to monitor his blood sugar level constantly. Does anyone here use one?

Glucose tolerance test results???
Hi does anyone know how to interpret a glucose tolerance test because it’s really confusing me! I had a 4hour OGTT, this was done purely because my blood sugars kept dropping, my hba1c has been tested repeatedly over the last 12 months and never been above 36 My results for the OGTT are 9.30 0 mins

Lots more tests following endo appointment
I posted a few days ago for a bit of advice due to persistent low cortisol and being very symptomatic despite really good thyroid results and vitamin levels. I saw the endocrinologist at the Liverpool royal and I have to say she was fantastic! I was in there for about 45 minuets so apologies if you were

27yo male in my 5th year after being diagnosed with igA Nephropathy (Berger's Disease)
I was diagnosed with IGAN in 2013. Back then it wasn't bad. Can't remember what my GFR was at the time but I felt fine and didn't take the diagnosis seriously at all. So 4 years go by and I decide I should probably at least get it checked up on. These are the results of my blood work from 5/17: Protein

TSH suddenly gone up
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last January (2017). I also had a scan of the thyroid to rule out anything more nasty. My TSH was around 14 at the time, FT4 was 10 (within region) and FT3 was 4 (again within range). I was put on 50 mg Euthyrox (levothyroxine sodium) and told to go back in a month
