Tired of Dealing With Severe Asthma
I have severe chronic asthma going on for nearly two years. I find myself increasing tired of dealing with asthma, doctors, treatments, record keeping, disability and all of the other bits that go along with asthma that simply refuses to bow to the current set of medicines and techniques for treating

Update - hydrocortisone during thyrotoxicosis - explanation of cortisol states on thyroid hormones.
I found an answer to my initial query, which was essentially, how do glucocorticoids both assist in the conversion of T4 to T3 while simultaneously inhibiting the same conversion? To put it another way, we must have cortisol to convert T4 to T3 - but glucocorticoids are administered during a thyroid

Urgent - Help me understand the role of hydrocortisone during thyrotoxicosis
If the body needs cortisone to convert T4 to T3, then why does administering hydrocortisone during thyroid storm inhibit peripheral conversion of T4 to T3? Page 678 indicates that cortisone is used to treat thyrotoxicosis, for this reason. http://www.med.illinois.edu/depts_programs/sciences/clinical

DHEA has brought back periods!
Hi I'm posting this to several forums to try to get some advice. I'm treating my adrenals in advance of treating my thyroid, in the hope I might not need to do the latter. Following a saliva adrenal stress test through Dr Sarah Myhill in the UK (where I live), I've been supplementing with 20mg DHEA and

What's different?
Am in 3rd week of holiday in Spain and inevitably there is a difference in my diet. We are eating out about every other day and I am not restricting myself as I do at home. One of the obvious differences is that everything has more salt. I have always hated salt, even as a child I avoided eating it

Lupus & The Skin
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum but after reading a few posts I feel at home already, everyone appears so friendly, supportive and clued up on the disease. I was diagnosed a few months ago after being referred to a Rheumatologist with suspected Rheumatoid Arthritis, I already suffer with Osteoarthritis

Diabetics On LCHF Miss Nutrients -- Yet another FUD?
There's yet another FUD from those who swear by ADA's broken dietary guidelines. The FUD (uncertainty and doubt, usually evoked intentionally in order to put a competitor at a disadvantage -- that's what few from ADA camp here do without missing a beat) is that those who follow LCHF diet do not get nutrients

Dr George Follows of Cambridge University Hospitals, discusses clinical trials for CLL patients Clinical trials are not for everyone. Shane Watson's LCHF Diet Busts The Myth That High Carbs Is Unavoidable For Sports Person
High Carb Low Fat diet is a failed diet. This is because despite all the HYPE of it being a healthy diet, obesity, diabetes, cardiac problems -- you name it and it is there - has all gone up ever since the HYPE for LOW FAT started. Shane Watson is a well known name for those who follow Cricket and

5th line chemo
Just got back from my first follow up after 4th line chemo to learn that my markers are rising again. It was a shock to say the least as I feel well. My oncologist has said that I will be starting Topotecan asap. This is the last drug they can try. If it works they can re challenge me with previous

Pressure Stocings
I first contracted cellulitus way back in 2001 which was my last visit to stay with friends in Malawi who I used to visit every year in December/ January time. It was then that my left leg was infected resulting in cellulitus which eventually developed in to Lymphodoema in both legs. Unfortunately there
