Just had 1st appointment with rheumy nurse.
It was a long one! I am well armed and informed, she was completely lovely, I have my blood results and it seems I am ra positive, crp 47, ccp 500, All other baseline results ok, I have my script for mtx and she wants me to start that next week, oh and my folic acid to take two days later

what is the difference between oral steroids and a steroid injection?
I had an intramuscular depo medrone injection but didn't seem to get the same result as when I get oral steroids. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two and why so I seem to get a better result for tennis elbow/hip bursitis from the oral steroids? Advice would really be appreciated

Interesting Treatments
I have been on this forum for a couple of months, and learned quickly that this is based in the UK. I'm over here in the States and can't help but notice all of the different treatments that people post about! I was diagnosed at the age of 7 back in 1980, but have had symptoms since birth. I have

What are my options?
Hi everyone, I'm new here but have a question. Background is a bit long, so bear with me! I have 5 kids, luckily never had any problems getting pregnant. I've always had heavy periods, to the extent that when I'm not on a hormone contraceptive I have to change a Tampax every 2-3 hours during the first

DepoProvera compatible with APS?
I just began DepoProvera injections to prevent ovulation due to serious bleeding after a normal ovulation. Is anyone else out there using this form of birth control and have you had any problems with it?

I think I am paying the price for the night out last night!
Went to a friend's 60th birthday party last night and was dancing the night away until midnight - not late by most people's standards I suppose, but late for me! Was beginning to have aches in arms and legs by the end and woke with various joint pains this morning! The pains were coming back anyway -

Steroid injection doesn't seem to have kicked in!
Hi, I got a Depo-Medrone injection over a week ago but it doesn't seem to have kicked in. Still in a lot of pain. I am on Methtrexate 17.5 mg. Saw the rheumy nurse last week who gave me the injection and said that the rheumatologist should review my medicines. My appointment with the rheumatologist

Does anyone have Autoimmune Hepatitis in addition to RA?
I have had to come off Mxt due to rising liver enzymes, but it looks like that might be a red herring. My liver enzymes were only slightly raised until 7 weeks after stopping the Mxt when they went through the roof! The docs were insisting that the drug was responsible, but they are now querying AIH

Depo medrone (or medrol?) injection
Hello, can anyone tell me how long it could take for this to kick in (had it in my backside) because I understood from the rheumy nurse that it is usually about 24 hours. I am so glad thay gave me one (my first ever) but am desperate to feel relief. Thanks, Julie.

Living with PMR with no prednisone
I'll start this blog with a little bit about when I acquired PMR and treatment. I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago when I was 56. I am a librarian, live alone and am my sole support. Like many, I had injured my shoulder and then within a few days, I had a huge flare up of PMR. Initially I went to my GP

Life as it has been for me since I can remember.
My name is Jenn Gallegos. I am trying to find out if it would be worth my time and money to travel in order to see a specialist for Antiphospholiipid Syndrome. I would like to provide some background information about me and how these antibodies have completely brought my life to a sudden halt.
