How long does it take to feel better doing a gluten free diet?
I had the blood test for coeliac disease and the endoscopy and both were negative but the specialist nurse said I could try it anyway to see what happens. My main problem is dry eyes and I've heard some people have had success with this diet. How long would it take to start seeing some kind of effect

Quorn - some products have now been awarded Coeliac UK's Cross Grain symbol
Hi Everyone. I'm posting the following because I think it might be of interest to some of you. Recently I have been noticing that information has been popping up about some Quorn items being gluten-free. With this in mind, earlier today I had a phone conversation with customer services from Marlow

DBS a week later
Friday I underwent the second procedure of the stimulator being wired up to the portals into my cranium. This was a 45 minute same day event. It is actually a little more painful post event due to the tunneling of the wires from the subclavicular site of the stimulator up to the top of my head. All

Monday I underwent the first stage of DBS at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. The procedure is done under full anesthesia utilizing a previous MRI and a small cat scan during surgery to accurately target the treatment site that for me was the Globus pallidus internus. During the prep

Newby and curious.
I gave up taking methotrexate and follic acid which I wasn't convinced of working without being carcinogenic. Perhaps I'm being foolish as RA is progressive. But I wanted to try other more holistic approaches like giving up sugar completely as I'm addicted to it. I was also going to try a gluten free

Pre DBS musings... making the blind eye see
Next week this time, I'll be in surgery for DBS at OHSU in Portland OR under the care of Dr Kim Burchiel, one of the worlds leading authorities on PD. I find myself anticipating the best outcomes knowing that it is not a cure but rather a symptom management with less drugs. I, too, dislike loading

Dbs surgery -- if you have had dbs surgery please tell me about your experience after the electrode implant.
I have had the stage 1 surgery and it is a month before the second stage controller implant. In the meantime , my Parkinson's symptoms have gotten so much worse. After the second stage, it will be 3 more weeks before the programming. I can barely function now. I am afraid that after the 2nd surgery

Boston Scientific's "Vercise DBS System"
Anyone here in Europe or Australia that has with the "Vercise DBS System"? It apparently stimulates with shorter pulses and a 25 year battery.

Sleep?
Something weird happened last night. I had 8 + hours of sleep. My neurologist and programmer for my DBS said increased sleeping times can be improved by the surgery at my programming session last week, but i never expected this. Hope the improved sleep length continues. I have had unfortunate side

Gluten and Lupus
Hi fellow Lupies I have recently looked at a study that has been going on in the States, where it seems that there seems to be a lot more interest in diet and links to lupus, the study looks at people going on a gluten free diet. I asked about this when I when to see my rheumy recently and it was suggested

Any benefit to a low-gluten diet?
I know this probably isn't strictly the best place to ask this question but some of you may have experience of this. I am considering trialling a gluten-free diet for a few weeks to see if it resolves several issues which may or may not be caused by gluten: I have not been diagnosed with coeliac disease

DBS and immobility
For those of you who have had DBS surgery-- When I wake up in the morning, I can't move. It is a great effort to reach for the pill bottle. Everything is stiff including my hands. Will DBS help this?

Not diagnosed but been gluten free for 2 months
I decided from choice to go gluten and wheat free after always suffering from IBS symptoms, wind and bloating. I have felt much better since I have but still don't feel 100%. I am about to undergo a lot of blood tests at the request of my GP and one is for Celiac Disease. I told my GP of my gluten

Position of relief from foot dystonia
I am experiencing more off time with increasing foot cramping, bad enough to put me on my hands and knees. Serendipity strikes! I was so tired I crawled up to a couch and rested my upper body on it. Still on my knees I pressed the top of my foot into the carpet which shut down the cramp. This was

What a gift with no tremors but now I'm experiencing what feels like some late stage symptoms. Typing this is very slow and difficult, my walk is shuffling with forward movement, almost falling lots. Slow and uncoordinated. Brain slow and difficult to coordinate, getting overwhelmed easilyl Handwriting

Hi, I'm new here
I'm a 50 year old female Canadian, I have not been diagnosed as celiac or coeliac as you say in the UK with a gluten sensitivity officially. I recently began eliminating gluten on account it is recommended as a helpful guideline for endometriosis sufferers. And I know it works. I tried this once before
