Boston Scientific's "Vercise DBS System"
I just had the Vercise system implanted in mid-October, as part of the Boston Scientific study in the United States. It was turned on last Monday, but not optimized specifically to my needs. The first 3 months are the "trial" period in which we are chosen randomly either to get a very low, intermittent stimulus, OR a medium continuous dose. Already, I can tell a decided difference as my need for sinemet wanes. It's a remarkable piece of technology; I'm grateful to be in the trial, even though it means a delay of several months to get the optimal dose for my symptoms.
I have also had the Vercise System through the trial. It is amazing that I have noticed a drastic change in meds and having so much more emergy. I am so grateful to be a part of this study. I had surgery 8 weeks ago and looking forward to 6 months from now.
I ,too , am in the Vercise trial. Am more than happy so far !!!!
