Cholesterol / lipid blood test for chronic heart disease
I had an MI in January. Previously when I had my post MI/rehab period cholesterol blood tests via the surgery, they were only going to do a simple single value test. I had to push hard to have it as a fasting full lipid test, which is what the hospital team had requested. I am due another set of blood

Not a question just information
Hi everyone. Bit of back story first. I was diagnosed with RA 15 years age 40 & spent around 9 years on various Dmards which either didn’t work or zonked me out. Been on etanercept for around 6 years & finally got my life back. I did have to give my job up as it worked that well to suppress my immune

Decioher .93 - results said Abiraterone was effective. Can people who use this enlighten me?
Husbands urology practice does surgery, radiation, ADT but does not list Abiraterone. Their website says they will refer us out if needing chemo. Thoughts?

Hi everyone, Has anyone besides StyleK delayed chemo/surgery even though there are evidence of recurrence on CT scans and CA125 rising but no symptoms. Would anyone delay 2nd line treatments if that were the case. thanks

Knee pain/Arthritis
I have just been told that I need a full knee replacement on my right knee. The consultant, is I am told is very experienced, said he could tell when I walked into the room. He did a quick physical examination, no MRI no Xray, then was quite negative about the surgery and said 1 in 20 people regret having

Hi there My husband had a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft and a few other things, 2 weeks ago. He's been out of hospital for a week now. He can manage stairs and very short walks around the garden. My worry is that he keeps getting hot and then shivering. I did read that after this major surgery that this

We have been for our drug appointment and injection teaching on Thursday 29th of august and had a scan. I was aware before this that I had an endometrial cyst on one of my ovaries, just not aware of how big it was, but have been informed that since my last scan/ mri that was done in march it has grown

Prednisolone/PMR - Hysteroscopy
I have no idea if I am making a fuss over nothing, I find it so hard to tell and I am alone. I had a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic on Wednesday. All went well, except for pain after the procedure, pain probably related to scarring from previous surgery in that area. On 6 mg pred atm. I didn't

What do my thyroid autoantibody test results mean?
Hello, I have been diagnosed with primary hyper parathyroid disease, and am waiting for surgery to remove a 9mm right side adenoma lying dorsal to the mid/lower pole of the right thyroid. During my ultrasound, the consultant asked if I knew what my thyroid autoantibody results were. He didn't discuss

Tinnitus newbie
Hi guysHad sinus surgery 12 months ago and a few months later developed tinnitus in my left ear. Coincidence or related I don't know but either way I don't know what my next step should be. Spoke to my GP who basically said to live with it which was very disappointing. I would be thankful for any advice

My DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) opinions and experiences
Last falI had been incredibly impressed by the moderator of the DBS Facebook page in his responses, and I thought If I can be as well-spoken as he is 25 years after I’ve had DBS like he is, so I decided to proceed with the surgery. The surgery did not go well. The surgeon nicked an artery in my brain

Swimming after Preserflo microshunt surgery
Hello. I’ve had Preserflo microshunt surgery in both eyes this year - left eye in April, right eye in July. I’d like to get back to aqua jogging in my local pool. Because of the setup there I have to fully submerge my head to get in and out. Has anyone else returned to the pool after the same surgery

New here; drop in egfr
Hi, My name is Brian and I'm new here. I am a 55 year old male. I have had a very low level of protein in my urine since 2017. All bloodwork was normal, however, for my age. I attributed the protein in my urine to taking PPI medications for many years since my mid-30s. In 2019 I opted to have a
