Debulking surgery

Very anxious. My surgery is tomorrow. Endometriosis and adhesions + a 12cm solid tumor abutting my sigmoid. No idea what to expect! It is a laparotomy. Any thoughts?

She had caeboplatin 4 cycles, then olaparib for 2 years, then debulking surgery in August this year and 6 doses of Carboplatin. However, recent scan showed it has progressed and deemed carboplatin resistant. Oncologist has suggested Liposomal Doxorubicin.

Has anyone had problems with adhesions following debulking surgery? I had my surgery two years ago and I am getting problems now.

Debulking surgery September 2023 followed by 6 platinum based chemotherapy sessions. Negative for BrCa 1/2 and HRD. Started on maintenance tablet Niraparib in March 2024 and now in December 2024 have had three 3 monthly CT clear scans and a consistently low Ca125 value of 8.

She had debulking surgery, 6 rounds of chemo, and then started taking Olaparib. After 3+ years on it (with stable disease), her doctor advised her to stop the drug. Today, 4 months after stopping Olaparib, my mother had a PET scan, which showed stable disease. Her CA125 is 15.

I had my debulking surgery three weeks ago and it included my appendix. I have not taken any pain medication since week 1. I am feeling fine. Up and functioning - looking like a slightly slower version of myself but likely nobody would even suspect anything. But!

I’ve had full debulking surgery and have just finished my 6th (and final scheduled) round of carbo/taxol chemo. I’m BRCA negative. I’m keen to find out if any women here with the same subtype are taking any preventative medications? Anyway- a problem shared is a problem halved right? 😊

I started with ovarian 2.5 years ago, had debulking surgery then 3 different rounds of chemo as the cancer has returned pretty quickly every time. I have had a long 5 month break which has been great. It has returned again and I start chemo again next week thank heavens.

Hello dear ladies, I am 5 days post my debulking surgery which went quite well. So far I have not had major issues… except bowel problems. Now they are talking about post op ileus or intestinal paralysis. Has anyone experienced this complication? What was done to treat it

Could You answer, Ladies, how high (or mayby low) was Your ca-125 level just after surgery and before chemo. And was it problem for oncologist?

Following a 4b diagnosis last year, 6 rounds of Carbo/Taxol and debulking surgery, I am currently very lucky to have NED. I started Olaparib and Avastin in February as maintenance and the fatigue has got progressively worse. Also suffering from muscle and joint aches.

Major surgery and in hospital for a week. Much worse than debulking surgery. I have what I feel is ascites, huge abdomen looking 7 months pregnant. I have consultant follow up tomorrow after being cancelled twice. Just a bit worried what tomorrow might bring. Anyone has anything similar? xx

Received 3 rounds chemo then debulking surgery followed by 3 more rounds of chemo. I have had 3 CT scans through June all showed NED even though CA 125 was rising. This latest scan showed no tumors but a very small amount of ascites. My oncologist believes cancer is recurring.

My tumor markers have always been “normal” although Ultrasound and CT scans detected masses before my debulking surgery (total hysterectomy). I completed 6 rounds of carbo/paxil in April 2023 and have been NED since then.

Hi lovely ladies 💟 My mums off for debulking surgery tomorrow, and I'd love to know if anyone has any tips on anything that made the recovery easier or anything you really appreciated after surgery that would be amazing.

My mum is 6 weeks post primary debulking surgery, and bowel resection and is still having some bowel issues. She's had pretty bad stomach cramping all day today. Is this normal? Does anyone have any tips? She's still on laxatives and drinking peppermint tea for gas.

hi all, Mum had her debulking surgery on Thursday evening and it was very successful. Full removal of ovaries, uterus, omentun, appendix etc. However she is really really struggling with pain as they think the bowel has gone to sleep. This also means she’s not really slept.

After debulking surgery and many treatments, her cancer was declared platinum-resistant. Following this, she received 6 rounds of Doxorubicin + Bevacizumab, which kept her stable.

I was diagnosed with stage 3c cancer in the spring and have just completed my fifth chemotherapy after debulking surgery and hysterectomy. I’ve one more round of chemo to go, then parp inhibitors and a maintenance chemo possibly.
