2nd Shingrix Vaccination

Was due to have my 2nd jab last week but the surgery cancelled due to staff sickness. Am booked in for Monday but feeling like I have a cold starting. Hence I may need to reschedule. Am at the very end of my 6 month window for this jab, and my question is how much does that matter? What happens if I get it done at say 6 months and 3 weeks? Obviously I need/want to get it done (despite the awful side effects last time) but getting worried about the timeframe.

I'm not a pharmacist, but delaying your second dose may not be problematical. However, I suggest you check this with our own pharmacist since s/he will know your history. walrus.com/questions/is-it-....

I can tell you, you do not want the shingles ever it’s terribly, terribly painful. I saw my neighbor go through it. I asked for it at age 49, knowing you are supposed to wait and my doctor said no, you have to wait.

I would go tomorrow and ask a pharmacist. I don’t know where you live, but hopefully you can find a place with a pharmacy on a Sunday like Target, or a CVS walk-in care, or grocery store with a pharmacy in it. Do not delay another single day. Someone qualified needs to answer this. You may also wish to ask your doctor/doctor’s office on Tuesday

Unless the pharmacist tells me specifically not to take it because I have a cold, I would just go ahead and take it. Better to just get it over with.

I agree that consulting with a qualified pharmacist is necessary. My personal opinion is to not take any vaccine when you’re not feeling 100% up to par. And do understand that the shingles vaccine has, as a listed potential side effect, Guillain-Barré syndrome. My sister, a retired RN, suffered GB from the shingles vaccine before they recognized it as a potential side effect.
