Need a bit of tlc
Am in hospital just having had a keyhole surgery to remove a large cyst and my remaining ovary. Am so bloated with all the CO2 they pumped into me so the surgeon could see what he was doing that I feel like 6months pregnant which would indeed by a miracle and a half! It is 3am and there is no way that

upping steroids short term to boost recovery?
writing on behalf of my mum who is getting over a respiratory tract infection (or not getting over it to be precise). She has long PMR (getting on 40 yr) and is constantly trying to reduce pred. I recall reading in this forum a recommendation to temporarily increase dose when ill / having surgery etc

For those with kids...
Sorry if this is triggering for anyone ttc. For the ladies with kids how do you manage? I have 3 young kids 5, 7 and 10. I know I'm lucky to have had no fertility issues. Endo/Adeno I believe has been a result of a c section with my third. But how the hell do you manage the pain and worse CONSTANT FATIGUE

L1/L2 Decompression with Cyst Excision
I’d be very grateful to hear from anyone who has undergone this particular surgery and also from others who decided not to proceed with it. I am 77, live on my own and am managing constant pain (oftentimes severe nerve pain) with gentle exercise, walking little and often, taking a low dose of pregabalin

Just diagnosed, need recommendations
Hi all! I just learned this morning that I have BC. Biopsy diagnosis DCIS in situ. Now I must find a breast oncology surgery practice. I live in Central Florida (Orlando) and am hoping I can get some recommendations of where to consider going for treatment. Thank you!

bisoprolol reduction
Thank you everyone for your replies. After my visit to A and E on Sunday the doctor told me to take an additional 1.25mg of bisoprolol for 3 days so now taking 2.50mg per day. I think I was a little naive but trusted the hospital to reduce to 1.25 after my cardioversion he said my heart rate was

If the metastasis is not severe (ie widespread) why not surgery first?
Hi All, I was just wondering why surgery is not more a conventional method in stage 4 metastatic breast cancer? If one has a breast tumor, and only a few areas of metastasis - why isn't surgery to remove the breast tumor, and then radation/targetted treatment on the areas of metastasis? Any insight

Anticipated endo appointment 🤦♀️
Hi everyone ❤️ As some members will know I posted a few days ago that my gp will not do my repeat prescription for my T3 until I see an endocrinologist, for which she is doing the referral. As I told her I've got around 7 possibly 8 days of T3 left. Obviously I'm going to need to contact the surgery

Can surgery be refused due to a high BMI?
Hi everyone I’m on the waiting list for a gyno appointment to check for endo. I’ve read on here that sometimes MRI scans don’t show endo and you’ve got to have a larp. Am I right in thinking they won’t do a larp unless you’re in the healthy category for weight on the NHS BMI scale? I eat well but

Looking for advice please!!
Hello, I have finally seen a gynaecologist about years of heavy painful periods who has said there may be a possibility of endometriosis and has listed me for a laparoscopy. I am at the stage in life where I am not quite ready to start the journey of trying to get pregnant but would like to start this

Preparing for Open Heart surgery
So last year I was diagnosed with a 2cm ASD and was awaiting surgery on the 5th January via catheter. To my shock I was called on the 3rd to be told there had been a mistake and they had realised I also had PAPVD and was now going to be having open heart surgery. I’m still going through tests and am

I’m five years Post surgery including removal of prostate & lymph nodes. Gleason 8 with Intraductal. Four years post stereotactic radiotherapy to the left iliac area following a PSMA

Laparotomy, Radical hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophrectomy
I had a major surgery about 8 months ago but the pain around my stomach hasn't gone away. My blood tests and CT scan results are normal. They mentioned that have adhesions which make me in pain all day all night, so I only rely on the pain reliefs.

Lobectomy for bronchiectasis
Hi,I was wondering if anyone has had a lobectomy for bronchiectasis and were cured or at least felt a lot better? I had an open lobectomy on 1st September but that was because there was a 5cm mass in my right lower lobe and I had been coughing up blood in my sputum since December 25th 2022. From September

recovering adrenals.
I’ve recently settled on taking 5mg Pred for over a month, and now feel good. For the last few months I’ve had gradual weight loss, diarrhoea and fatigue. The diarrhoea has stopped so has the weight loss and only feel the need to sleep once for an hour or so during the day. Typical adrenal insufficiency

Going Private
I can't wait any longer so I've decided to go private and I've booked to see a consultant next week. I can't get my head around the fact I can see the same consultant I have to wait a year for on the NHS next week if I pay £200. I'm 50, currently on continuous provera and estrogen and I'm bleeding heavily

Isn’t this so true?
In today’s newspaper…….Not getting better During the pandemic, virtually every GP surgery in the land closed its doors as people were told to stay away from the NHS. The reason was purportedly to stop the hospitals overflowing but it effectively put the entire system out of reach for those who did not
