Hi, was just wondering if anyone has experienced that their pelvic pain condition has led to serious pain with trapped wind? I was diagnosed with abcess near uterus and ovary over year and half ago. Now on surgery waiting list to remove fallopian tubes and ovary. I've been getting severe pain in stomach and pelvic area which subsides after few hours and it feels like constipation and trapped wind. Has me doubled over in pain for hours and feels different from the abcess pain. Never had issues with constipation or trapped wind before and was wondering of one thing can lead to the other , anyone experienced similar and found a way out? TIA xx

Pelvic pain and severe trapped wind?
I have episodes of acute pain in my stomach and upper abdomen. They are since having a hysterectomy 4 months ago which confirmed an early cancer. (All removed and no further treatment needed.)
I've been told that the bowels take a while to recover from (a) the general anaesthetic and (b) relocating to fill the cavity where the organs were removed.
I find dehydration brings it on so drinking a lot of water has helped. I've been prescribed medication for IBS. Buscopan is available over the counter and that seems to help, as do Rennie mints. I've been taking daily peppermint oil since the operation which should also help because the pain appears to be trapped gas. "Colicky" was how one doctor described it.
Unfortunately, when it happens they only advise to ride it out (which lasts several hours) and take paracetamol if the pain is unbearable.
Hi - I have had a number of pelvic surgeries (10) over the years. On evaluation of my pelvic floor muscles, they are constantly in spasm.
Two years ago, I had botox injected into the pelvic floor muscles in order to stop the spasms. The botox only last for a few months, but it gave me time to do some myofascial work which has improved my lower abdominal pain. That said, when the botox wears off - the pelvic floor goes back into spasm (likely due to scarring).
What relates to your question is this. I rarely, rarely pass wind. I thought that was just me. When the botox went into effect and the pelvic floor relaxed , I started farting multiple times a day. Apparently the pelvic floor tight muscles were keeping me from passing wind!
These days, again no passing of wind. But I do get pains in my bowels when I get gassy. I take antigas medication and it goes away. Not sure this is what is happening to you, but I thought it possible?
Abcesses are a common cause of scarring and adhesions. Perhaps myofascial massage of your abdomen would ease your issue? Best of luck!
Thank you , I think you are right, tight pelvic area and adhesions causing the issue with gas , I didn't know gas could be so painful ! Thank you for your advice xx
A pelvic floor spasm can feel like a Charlie horse. Or if it is continuous, it can be a burning feeling because the muscles are oxygen starved. Or it can feel like a cramp where you sit in a chair. Hope that helps. Sorry if you are experiencing that...
