Chemotherapy or not?
I was diagnosed with CLL in 1997 though probably had it for some years before that. I had chemo in 2004 and again in 2008. Then I had a right pneumonectomy in 2010 for cancer. Now my haematologist is talking about more chemo since my platelet count is around 34,000 and the infiltration of the bone

Roche’s GA101 Met Goals in Stage One of Trial to Replace Rituxan
'GA101 combined with chemotherapy helped CLL patients live longer without their disease progressing than chemotherapy alone, the Basel, Switzerland-based drugmaker said in an e- mailed statement today. The medicine is a partnership with U.S. biotechnology company Biogen Idec Inc. Still to come

Guess who is hogging the health spa...........
After being forced into some amazing antics over the weekend by Kaz, Gins, Libby, Sandra to name but a few I noticed pink pig (PP) was mysteriously quiet .... Thinking she might have had a relapse like Mofffy I decided to book myself in today to a local health spa for some lovely pampering and relaxation

Had Fludarabine? You can only have irradiated blood...for life.
This is a repost...for some reason the messages isn't getting through... It simply amazes me how many fludarabine treated CLL patients are not aware of this fact... it also apples to Cladrabine and pentostatin all purine analogs in fact. Also a good idea for bendamustine and campath...

How safe are your medical records?
With our ever increasingly networked world, where prompt access to our medical conditions could be a matter of life and death when emergency intervention is needed, there is the associated downside of unauthorised access to medical computer systems and devices - including implanted devices like defibrillators

Reflections on my New Year's Eve, 2012
I spent the News Year's Eve with a friend, watching Canadian comedies on television and raising our endorphin levels... while sipping a small glass of Cointreau... New Year's Eve TV comedy is a Canadian tradition, and none better than a long time group, known as the Air Farce

On a lighter note...........How did the tradition of putting a fairy on top of the Christmas tree start?
I so enjoyed reading pinkpig99's lovely poem yesterday (or was it the day before?... the days all run into one another!) that I was thinking about it, while I was lying in bed wide awake, and I was reminded of a joke I was told a few years ago. Now I must warn all of you that I was never very good

Big Brother (or is that Big Pharma?) strikes again
This morning I checked my supply of my winter standby of Echinacea, and decided it was time to buy some more. To my horror the price from my usual supplier has rocketed, so I checked other sites only to discover that the same high prices applied, and on none of the sites was it now called straightforward
