A little positivity ...
Hello Everyone, I thought I’d share my recent experience of having a needle injected into my shoulder joint. It’s been an ongoing sage with my Rheumatologist convinced it was bursitis and giving me two cortisone needles into the bursa on two occasions, each only working for 2 blissful weeks. I explained

Adrenal fatigue
Hi I was on cortisone for a long time as a child and a number of times as an adult. I had Ulcerative Colitis. I have a lot of problems which I think are as a result of taking them. I suspect I have adrenal insufficiency because I’m so fatigued a lot of the time. Any information as to try and improve

Chronic Glans / Foreskin inflammation for 16 Months now. Very worried.
Hi there. I am fighting this problem for way too long already and it only seems to get worse. I didn't have unprotected sex for a long time when this all started so I could already rule out an STD (which was then confirmed by my urologist and dermatologist as they did a variety of tests). Everything

Liquid gel in COVID patients’ lungs makes way for new treatment.
In some patients who died with severe COVID-19 and respiratory failure, a jelly was formed in the lungs. Researchers have now established what the active agent in the jelly is and thanks to that, this new discovery can now be the key to new effective therapies. This according to a new study at Umeå

Low T3 and carpel tunnel syndrome
Has anyone experience carpal tunnel syndrome as a result of low FT3? I have had three episodes over ten years and each time, my FT3 was low. I am left handed so each time it has been in my left wrist and arm.The pain was so intense that it resulted in ER visits, mri's and was resolved each time

Cortisone injections while taking Xarelto
My neck is messed up. C-5 & C-6. My Orthopedic Doc said a Cortisone injection may be a good option for me. I read that Xarelto and any spinal injections could be dangerous. Has anyone ever gotten a cortisone or steroid injection while taking X? Any Thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Does a Cortisone injection in the foot make RLS worse?
Hi. Yesterday I had a cortisone injection in my foot for arthritis at the NHS. Last night my RLS was through the roof and that has continued through today. My arthritis is fine but I'm wondering if there's a connection and if anyone else has suffered the same thing. The RLS is unbearably bad compared

Amount of own body's normal production of cortisone
I have been on steroids for two and a half years. initially for PMR now for GCA. How much cortisol does the adrenal glands normally produce. At what dose of steroids taken will my own adrenal glands start working again if ever

Extreme reaction to injection at dentist
I often have my teeth out, so am no stranger to injections at dentist. Had to have four teeth out on Tuesday. As dentist put in injections in bottom gum, I experienced sudden onset of rapid palpitations. (I have been diagnosed with atrial flutter and frequent supraventricular ectopics.) The palpitations

Whole body inflammation -- is it autoimmune or Lyme?
Hi all, I wonder if anybody either experienced or heard of something similar to what happened to me. Back in November '19 I ended up in ER with the whole body systemic inflammation. Weeks before that I would experience little tightness across my lower back and behind my knees in the morning and after

So the diagnosis for my ankle is Tenosynovitis - inflammation in the sheath the contains the perineal tendons and I’m booked in for a cortisone injection. Has anyone who is on a NOAC has one? Locum suggesting high dose steroids for my knee problem.
I've toyed with posting here as it's been months since I last posted. I hope you're all managing during these extraordinary times we're living in. We've been keeping our heads beneath the parapet, semi sheilding and wearing mask whenever we're entering a shop. This is no 'obligatoire' for which I am

Pain from PMR or Osteoarthritis?
I was diagnosed with PMR 6 years ago, and got down to 5mg Pred about 3 years ago. I’ve tried to go lower but never succeeded. I am nearly 84 and also suffer from Osteoarthritis. I had a hip replacement just over 5 years ago, which went wrong, and has left me with a limp and backache after walking or

An update on my tocilizumab experience.
Hello Everyone, from Downunder, I have now had my 12th jab of tocilizumab and my inflammatory markers have reduced to “normal” levels. I feel strong, full of energy and mentally positive for the first time in some months. My pred is down to 6.5mgs, Rheumatologist thinks I could reduce more rapidly,

CBD oil - is it suitable for pain relief for oesteoarthritis when you take any anticoagulant?
Reading about CBD oil claims for pain relief, been on anticoagulants for decades. Struggling with pain in the knees caused by wear and tear, surgery looks like it may be on the cards. As long term warfarin and now Doac user, I have never taken anti -inflammatories or been offered cortisone type injections

Severe itching after kidney transplant
I had my transplant last month and I had two blood transfusions. One bag the first time then two bags the second time. I’m not sure if it’s the medications but I have had full body itching since I left the hospital. My doctors tried benedryl, Zyrtec, hydroxyzine pamoat and I have put anything from cortisone
