Advice dealing with chronic GVHD in the eyes and skin while trying to withdraw steroids
Hello everyone! I had a stem cell transplant last year and I am dealing with very uncomfortable Graft Versus Host Disease in my eyes and skin. The one in the eyes is the worse! I need to have drops every 10mins. Punctal ducts were helpful for three weeks only. I am waiting for some stem cell eye drops

Cirrhosis and hepatitis
Hi Everyone, My brother in law is in the hospital with alcohol cirrhosis and hepatitis C. Without a transplant he will not survive. Does anyone know if the hepatitis is a significant factor for receiving a transplant? Or is it mostly the precursor to cirrhosis? My husband had a liver transplant in September

Tacrolimus/Advagraf and Ginger
Has anyone ever had a doctor tell them they cannot have ginger while on Tacrolimus? When you search online for contraindications to Tacrolimus, it lists pomegranates, grapefruit, pomelo, star fruit and ginger. However, the medical information sheet I get from the pharmacy only says to avoid grapefruit

A break during 10k
Does anyone else ever stop for a couple of minutes for a break during their 10k run? I tend to run on the treadmill and have recently started doing 10k runs after eventually completing c25k. About half the time I can do it without stopping whilst the rest of the time I find myself needing to stop for

Immune Compromised Patients May Get 3rd Vaccination
I mentioned this story in a reply I just made to a different Post, and decided it was too important a story to leave only in that reply. So I'm now posting about it. In essence my blood test at Quest Labs to see if my two vaccine shots resulted in any antibodies came back "NONE" I've been a little

CDC advisers to consider additional coronavirus dose for immunocompromised patients. Meeting scheduled for July 22
A federal advisory panel is expected next week to consider whether health-care workers should be allowed to give additional coronavirus shots to patients with fragile immune systems, even as top U.S. health officials have said an additional dose of vaccine is not widely needed. The prospect of booster

Immunocompromised? Why the COVID-19 vaccine might still protect you
COVID-19 vaccinations may not offer as much protection to people with compromised immune systems, but just how much appears to be driven by the type of underlying condition, new research suggests. "People with conditions that compromise their immune systems exhibit a wide spectrum of antibody responses

Six month scanxiety.
Just going through my six month scanxiety. Will have my six month ultrasound and AFP test on July 20. All prayers appreciated. For those who don’t know, I suffer from cirrhosis cause by my right sided heart failure. Yep, the heart affects many of our organs. My cirrhosis is well compensated and will

First Stem Cell Transplant Appointment done
Thanks to everyone who replied to my first post on this. My husband and I stayed over in Southampton and we got home today. To my great relief, the consultant was extremely approachable and excellent at explaining things. I didn't ask all of my questions as these initial discussions are being done over

Lung Transplant: “Dry Run”
Hi, Of the people who have had or are listed for a lung transplant, can you tell me how you coped with “dry runs” ( not sure what else to call them) I got called to Harefield, 2 days ago, as they potentially had suitable lungs for me. I had all the bloods, swabs, was prepped for theatre etc. Then it
