My brother in law is in the hospital with alcohol cirrhosis and hepatitis C. Without a transplant he will not survive. Does anyone know if the hepatitis is a significant factor for receiving a transplant? Or is it mostly the precursor to cirrhosis?
My husband had a liver transplant in September so I understand the process, he did not have hepatitis so I am not sure how much of a factor it is.
Thanks in advance 💕💕💕

I will assume your brother in law has been referred to the liver transplant team for assessment. They will be able to advise regarding suitability for transplant.
The reassuring news is that hepatitis C is now a condition that can be 'cured' with treatment.
Hi there, your post is a bit confusing. When you say your husband didn't have hepatitis, do you mean he didn't have hepatitis C? The reason I ask is that all liver damage is called hepatitis, whether it is caused by food, drugs, alcohol, viruses or immune system. Hepatitis just means liver inflammation.
Don't mean to be awkward, but it could be easier for people to give you advice if they were sure what you meant. Just trying to help. Sorry to hear about his condition and I hope things work out for the best.
