How can you sauna after kidney transplant
I am not so sure about a sauna, but I know you should not go into a hot tub. It all has to do with where they place your transplant. It's not as protected as your native kidneys are.
What about a regular hot bath?
Talk with your doctor...but usually a hot tub is a lot hotter at about 102 in temperature than your normal bath. Depending on the setting for your water heater, most are not that hot. Would be hard for your bath water to be 102 or warmer. Hot tubs have heaters in them to keep them at a constant temp.I stay away from HOT water, in a hot tub!
As a precaution...don't "cook" your kidney....
I'm confused by your answer. Does the kidney transplant centers tell you to stay away from saunas and hot tubs? This is my first time hearing about this. I've always been to hot tubs and saunas..even sulfur hot springs without any problems. Please let me know
Yes to both. My center told me to stay away from both. You should check with your transplant center and see what they tell you. Always ask your center.
Any experience that can cause dehydration is a definite no. It is hard. I like to soak in a hot tub especially when I had anal itch from medication and loose stools but I found an anal itch medication medication and started fiber supplement. I also have a tendency to over exercise or work and have to take more water breaks whether I want to. You need to evaluate your reason for the sauna and is it right for you in your new situation. Dehydration is going to increase your creatine level. When I prepared for a colonoscopy I was given a special prep so that I would not dehydrate to a poor level. Your world has changed but it is still a good one just decide what is important. To be in the sun is good but the shade is good also. Moderation in all things is important. Take care and remember your doctor is the best source for any question.
I don’t know about saunas. However, my wife and I own a hot tub. I haven’t been in it since I started PD. Then I received my transplant five weeks later. That was almost ten months ago. There is absolutely no chance I will return to hot tubbing. It’s a small price to pay for feeling good with my new kidney.
About saunas, make sure you have a chat with your nephrologist.
What does your transplant center say? No one in my center or doctors have ever warned me from stay away from hot tubs. So, I've been to plenty and I haven't had any problems so far. I even went to hot springs. I know when to come out though when needed... ask your transplant center
I have been in sauna just make sure you have a water bottle and drink all the time and not get dehydrated. It's the direct sunlight that is the problem.
