Why do others think I'm stupid for helping our family member

Hello I have a brother in the hospital recovering from covid thank God he will make a good recovery he's only allowed 1 visitor for 1 hour everyday. I went to see our brother to just try & spend some time with him his wife beat me to it a few minutes earlier. He's going to require dialysis I think twice a week so far they don't think it's kidney failure but where I work I took about 9 pictures in total with this very big teddy bear holding a get well soon card plus open. I see no harm in it but on my way home I guess a few family members or others are saying about not to talk about it that it's stupid when here about two weeks ago our oldest brother thought it was a very thoughtful thing to do for our brother. And that when he gets out & see's these pictures that he will have a big smile on his face also I guess our oldest brother changed his mind now; here I'm trying to get our brother resources for when he comes out; support groups; what to expect I guess my question to everyone if you don't mind me asking what am I doing wrong? I don't really feel like eating quite a few times because he's still sedated one person with another organizations said to see if I can get some time off like a family leave but I just started my job last year in November. All I'm trying to do is help my brother in the hospital & get some information & resources that he can use plus think of ways to give him that positiveness for therapy but now I guess I'm stupid according to our oldest brother; can someone please give me some advice with this I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Hi Drawi. You're a wonderful person with a caring soul. Please continue to spread your cheer to your loved one facing dialysis. And please ignore all those that are discouraging you with their sour expressions. Love and light and caring is what this very harsh world needs. Your brother in the hospital is very lucky to have you in his life.

Forgive me, but you are not the stupid one. Support is very important, You sound like a very caring and loving person and that is not stupid. I have been on dialysis for 5 1/2 yrs. and I have no family support where i live. My youngest sister was a social worker at a dialysis center in Florida. She is very supportive, and knowledgeable about dialysis. I wish she lived closer, and I appreciate, and love her for that. Keep doing what you're doing. There may be days when depression and anxiety set in (part of dialysis) You sound like someone he can talk to.Keep doing what you're doing. GOOD LUCK
