Oh the guilt....
Today was our first day on medicine for my 5 year old. Sometimes when he doesn’t get something he wants, it turns into a full meltdown. Today he didn’t seem as hyper and he didn’t need TV all day to keep him entertained. However, 3 separate times he had a big meltdown due to not getting his way. It’

Medicine
This morning we started Concerta for my 5 and 1/2 year old adhd and very impulsive boy. Doctor says we should see results today or tomorrow. Any experience with a younger child on Concerta? I am full of emotions today... scared, guilty and optimistic.

Hello, new here
Hi. I wanted to introduce myself. I've got three children: a 12 year old with ADHD/LD, a 10 year old and an almost 8 year old. My 12 year old was diagnosed three years ago after he became violent and I realized that if he continued the way he was going for another 10 years, we'd be in big trouble

Minimal side effects?
We are in the process of finding the right medication for my 7 year old son recently diagnosed with ADHD. We tried Focalin and it made him very withdrawn and somewhat depressed. We are about to start Vyvanse so we'll see how that works. I'm very concerned about how these drugs affect a child's personality

Similar Expeeience
My 8 year old granddaughter was prescribed a 30 mg dose of Vyvanse and experienced similar behavior changes after one dose. I stopped the drug and asked for a 10 mg dose after consulting with pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and nurses. When the prescriber would only decrease the dose to 20 mg, I

It has to get easier
Today was tough my 7 year old who currently takes concerta. It is like he just don't get it. His defiance is out od control the school thinks he is incompetent. When I know my son is bright and taking things from him no longer works. Out of options.

Anyone with ME taken ADHD Meds?
The Adult ADHD Consultant has put me on Matoride
XL
(same as
Concerta
XL
, etc: it’s a slow-release Ritalin), and I seem to be able to still have my daytime sleeps on it - which is a relief although the sleeps are not as restful as previously.

Anxiety meds
So i need advice my therapist suggests I give medications a try again..i hate meds because they arent natural and could potentially harm your body in the long run! Now I used to be on a ton of meds when I was younger and felt like a LAB RAT because id try the newest crap each time something came out

Lying or not?
Last night was one of those nights and I would love others' opinions. Long story short -- my 14 year old started high school this year after being in a Montessori school her whole life. She has ADHD and an anxiety diagnosis and takes Concerta in the morning with a booster in the evening to help with

Feel like a double edged sword
Take medications for ADHA and depression. I was taking concerta every day but I get pains in my hands and feet. I think my body reacts weird to stimulates like meds and caffeine.

New to the diagnosis
Hello, My soon to be 7yo son just started low dose Concerta for ADHD. We have been dealing with his anxiety for quite some time. I am glad there is a community to discuss our travels.

Frustrated and Worried Mommy
My son wasn’t diagnosed at 4 with ADHD and some behavioral disorders similar to those found in Asperger syndrome. He has been on concerta for a while now and his behavior and social skills are not getting any better, they actually seem worse. Needless to say, we are worried sick and both frustrated!

Inattentive ADHD
My 8th grade son is drowning because of the inattentive ADHD. He's slowly giving up on school. We tried Ritalin, but he didn't like the way he felt and then Concerta, which he had a terrible reaction to that resulted in a trip to the ER. There are things stressing him out besides school. Counseling hasn't
