Today was our first day on medicine for my 5 year old. Sometimes when he doesn’t get something he wants, it turns into a full meltdown. Today he didn’t seem as hyper and he didn’t need TV all day to keep him entertained. However, 3 separate times he had a big meltdown due to not getting his way. It’s so hard to know if this is because of the Concerta or just because he is stubborn and defiant.

Monitor the number of meltdowns and when they occur. Then discuss your results with your child's doctor. See if the meltdowns occur after the medicine wears off or during the day. See if he looks calm or more irritable in general.
