“The last surgeon that operated on me said if I ever need another surgery, I will need a
colostomy
bag and that thought is horrifying.”

Update: Avastin stopped. Gastroesophageal Reflux & Urticaria. Good Scan result.
I was hoping to approach a surgeon soon about the possible reversal of my
colostomy
/stoma. My original surgeon said a reversal could be considered 4 months after avastin stops, if an assessment shows that everything inside looks healthy enough.

After Surgery Report - OC recurrence
It was a really rough time but good news, I didn't have to have a bag, ie: illeostomy or
colostomy
. Mass was attached to small intestine and so they cut out a small piece and reattached. Endometriosis and only one lymph taken out near mass. Healing is a lot slower than the first surgery.

Diet with a colostomy
Hi everybody I was interested to see if anybody had any idea of how to eat a controlled diet with a stoma. [Edited by moderator] Greens I’m unable to eat with my stoma but I’m thinking maybe I could make a smoothie of some sort to help? Does anybody have any other advice of what I may be able to eat

Dysphagia
We enter new territory. Since Ian's total colectomy 3 weeks ago, he has been having real problems swallowing, and chokes on water etc. I am about to collect some thickener from the farmacia. He has little appetite and his speech has pretty much disappeared, all in a short space of time. We are home

Colostomy due to Ovarian Cancer
Has anyone had to get an ostomy because of a tumor? If so how long did you have it? Was it permanent or reversed? Are you done with treatment?

Appalling bedside manner
I get a call from Mum after that in tears saying she was devastated and that he had blasted her with info and she heard chance of
colostomy
, chance of NGT for life and hospice. I rang the ward and asked the nurses to plse go and look after her as she was distraught. I am fuming.

Heartbroken
My husband is scheduled for a
Colostomy
on 5-08-2020. He said he is scared, I am crying because my husband is not scared of anything. He went through Chemo and Radiation treatments at the same time in 2014. He been in remission for five years but his cancer left a terrible wound that won't heal.

Probiotics and Coronavirus
Along with that I had a perforated bowel that resulted in a
colostomy
. I had the
colostomy
reversed (re-connected my plumbing) and to help with bowel activity I am taking some probiotics. Would these probiotics help to avoid the current virus?

I’ve got an appointment with a bowel specialist in May to talk through my options of surgery as it’s high risk I could end up with a
colostomy
bag for life. Very upset this is happening as I could just have to live with the chronic pain for life. Many thanks for any help or advice. Kerry 😊

Endometriosis,laparoscopic surgery
They did not remove the nodule because that part of the procedure my dr. hasn't done very many removals within the rectum and could of possibly left me ending with a
colostomy
bag for 6 months.

Kissing ovaries and obstructed ureter
My consultant said that I may need a
colostomy
bag after the operation, and he will have to put a stent in my ureter. However, this was before my renogram. I had a renogram on Friday, which I could see the scans on the screen next to me.

Crohn’s and Enteropathic Arthritis
Hi, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease following a bowel obstruction and Hemi colectomy in 1996. I was then diagnosed after many years of problems with my joints with enteropathic arthritis in 2016. I would be interested to hear about anybody else’s experience of this. Many thanks

Stoma? I’d advise you to wear abdominal support garments from the get go.
Having a stoma and using a
colostomy
bag is enough of a hassle to manage without the added difficulty of then having to manage a hernia and trying to prevent it from worsening. All the best. Lisa.xx
