After 50 years is it worthwhile pushing the NHS for answers
As everyone in this forum knows last year my GP shocked me by telling me that 50 years ago I had a life threatening TBI and to be fair he has arranged Counselling and Cognitive Therapy (other GP's are no better than chocolate teapots) With the help of the Headway's leaflets etc. and this wonderful forum

Disasterous appointment with endo...it's time to self-medicate
I went to my first appointment with the endo today, armed with thyroid function tests, vitamin and mineral results and a 2 weeks avg basal temperature chart, and feeling very positive that she seemed to get the 'it's bigger than TSH result' approach. And in one sense she was, but my belief that her interest

Hi! I'm new here and was looking for some advice and answers! All reply's are gratefully received!
Hello there! I was diagnosed very recently with EDS after asking my doctor to be referred to a rheumatologist. She also told me I had quiet severe fibromyalgia, something I'd never heard of before. After doing some research and reading the pamphlets she gave to me, I had a few questions which I think

CFS, Immunity Problems and The Thyroid??
Been to see an endo who I was referred to by my GP and a specialist I was recommended on here. Both independently say I have auto-immune thyroditis, CFS and a problem with my immune system. On the one hand I am relieved that a diagnosis including thyroid issues has been stated, on the other the label

What should I do next?
I was recently told that I should go in for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Biofeedback because of my FND. The consoles let me know point blank that they see no need for me to be in therapy. I am going in anyway. Because the original diagnoses was Guillian-Barre, then Conversion Disorder and now FND

Schizophrenia - are new treatments needed
The Lancet recently run a study looking at the use of cognitive therapy in people with schizophrenia http://www.nhs.uk/news/2014/02February/Pages/Talking-therapies-could-help-with-schizophrenia.aspx They found some benefit in terms of improvements in certain, but not all symptoms. Though the BBC claims

Cognitive behavioural therapy may help resolve chronic adrenal (cortisol/glucocorticoid) and exaggerated stress response problems
Hi all. I've been posting at times recently about how exaggerated stress responses and/or chronic stress and consequent chronically elevated cortisol (which often progresses to adrenal fatigue/exhaustion) may lead to chronic fatigue, auto immune issues, blood sugar regulation problems and thyroid disease
