is this PMR
morning, I have now finished my 2 year Prednisolone taper for GCA. I was under Chetan Mukthyr. However much pain & stiffness I was in he always ruled out PMR as I did not have every single symptom, my tapering was never altered in the 2 years. Every day now I wake up to stiffness in fingers, buttocks

Palpitations with tapering
I wonder if it is usual to have palpitations when reducing Prednisolone. I have successfully managed to get down to 5 mgms (last 7 weeks), albeit with the ‘dreaded fatique’. Sometimes on very little exertion or at times of stress I feel my heart will burst out of my chest! It eventually settles with

5-6 Months of Louder Tinnitus & I managed to get my doctors to let me try Prednisolone for 8-9 days, but, it was a low dose of 15mg a day. A few days in, I could feel my hearing sharpness had increased & some ear fullness had gone & it feels less inflamed. My tinnitus did seem to slightly flutter about

Newly Diagnosed and Frightened
Oh Crumbs, I seem to have written my whole introduction as part of my profile. So my main concern at the moment is how do other people cope with the side effects of high dose (50mg) Prednisolone. Is it common to feels so unwell and to shake so much that I can't write and keep mis-hitting keys on my mobile

Like many others I guess I am in a quandary about having my Spring booster. I started taking 20mg prednisolone in November 2022, reduced to 15mg after one week, then gradually down to 10mg where I stayed for most of a year. I am now on 8.5mg. Am I immuno-suppressed on this dose? My immune system is

PMR Relapse after operation?
I previously had PMR and took prednisolone between September 2018 and July 2021. I have not had to take prednisolone since July 2021. I was basically affected round the hips/lumbar region. I have in the last 15 months had 3 operations for lumbar decompression, the last one on the 14 June 2024. I was

Remission
it is now well over 2 years since last I posted and I’m feeling a bit guilty about not being in touch. My symptoms finally disappeared over 2 years ago but I continue to take 1mg prednisolone per day. It’s my insurance policy! 😊. I have a question: having been on pred from 2018 - 2022 what’s the verdict

PMR symptoms and Steroid sensitivity and withdrawal
I updated my profile a couple of weeks ago as I am feeling that the PMR recovery plan is not working. I had about 10 days at the beginning of my 15 mg start on prednisolone of feeling that the pain was controlled. After that I experienced a low level of the previous discomfort. I was not advised about

Steroid injection into Kiloid Scars
I have a dermatology appointment on Saturday (yes an NHS appointment on a Saturday) to review treatment of kiloid scars. I think one of the options suggested may be direct steroid injections into the scars themselves. I have had PMR for 9 years and have at last got stable on 7 mg prednisolone daily

Just have a question. I was put on a 5 Day taper of 16mg of prednisolone. I took my first dose today along with a one time dose of diflucan. Will I be ok to have my colonoscopy tomorrow?

How rare is it to be diagnosed with PMR at age 45?
I am writing to ask advice from this excellent Forum which has been such a help to me in the 3 years since I was eventually diagnosed with PMR, having had a nightmare obtaining help and support due to Covid, lockdowns, lack of face to face appointments etc. My own journey remains a struggle, but I'm

Medication prescribed alongside prednisolone
Hi, hope everyone is well. I have been prescribed steroids for my most recent transfer. Fortunately I was lucky enough to get a positive this morning on test day. I was prescribed lansoprazole a PPI to protect stomach whilst taking the steroids. My husband has gone to collect top up meds to cover me

I have been on prednisolone since last August for GCA/PMR and am getting down to lower levels (10mg). Rheumy wants to add methotrexate as need to get off steroids due to osteoporosis. I read all the leaflet last night and scared myself to death! Has anyone got experience to share of this drug particularly
