5-6 Months of Louder Tinnitus & I managed to get my doctors to let me try Prednisolone for 8-9 days, but, it was a low dose of 15mg a day. A few days in, I could feel my hearing sharpness had increased & some ear fullness had gone & it feels less inflamed. My tinnitus did seem to slightly flutter about a bit & it felt a little bit quieter, but I think this was from ear pressure inflammation and not the tinnitus overall & it is still quite loud, as I have finished the tablets.

I have had a new hearing test and it has improved, we could say it was the Prednisolone or not. I still want to do a higher dose and get more of it in my system, it seems to work well for some people and not for others and I have also heard some people take it for life and they don't have any tinnitus at all.

Share your Experiences of Prednisolone, if you have taken it also.

Regards

That sounds really promising. My T has greatly reduced and reacts to all sounds . Been happening for 3 weeks due to covid. Maybe I should try it? Did you have any noise sensitivity as well?

No Noise Sensitivity, but, I am often lethargic. Tinnitus is still similar loudness, but, the low dose of Prednisolone may have boosted up my health a little bit to improve the hearing or reduce any inflammation. I did react badly to the covid vaccines in the past and like many people, I think this aggravated and caused my tinnitus to get louder, than what it was many years ago, as my hearing tests are still pretty good.

be very wary of Pred. Long term use has very bad side effects.

I recently had a 7 day course of Prednisolone for my asthma and it didn't have any effect on my Tinnitus (nor my asthma!)

Well you know definitely don't want to take it for life because it deteriorates your muscles that deteriorate your bones makes you more liableva fractures, I don't know how you took a hearing test I took a hearing test when my ear wasn't doing anything just 2 ear doctors had jacked with it and I just kept going to ear doctors and this other one taught me into taking another hair in the past and when I did that night both my ears was ringing off the wall it was so loud you could hear it probably sitting aside at me and that last dig about a week and then it subsided and went down to just that 1 ear that they messed now when I get real stressed out or if I'm around allowed humming buzz and keen sounds I can hear it barely ring and I put my finger in my ear and I can hear it real loud and then if I forget about it if you just goes away, But I was told it's not really your ear it's a nerve inside your head

I have regular appointments with a private clinic & they did another hearing test update & it had improved, this was just after finishing Prednisolone. It might have made a difference or not, but, I felt my hearing went a bit sharper, after a few days of taken it, it seems to work that way for some people and then nothing for others, but, it may have sorted out inflammation & nothing to do with the brain or nerves from it. My Tinnitus is incredibly annoying & I am still working with the clinic to mask it or resolve it, the NHS think my hearing & brain is fine, so my case with the NHS is more or less closed to see any consultant or further tests, unless things change.

hi I took a high tapered dose of prednisone starting with 50 or 60 mg per day for 10 days prescribed by GP after a bad noise induced incident. I only took one dose & ended up in A&E with heart pain which thankfully proved to be ok but it took a while to settle down. Personally I would count your blessings that the dose you had helped your hearing with no side effects.
