Prednisone Tapering questions
While I had minor symptoms back in Nov-Dec '22, it really hit me in early Jan '23. GP diagnosed PMR after many tests, etc. Started me on 10mg Prednisone which did nothing. Referred me to a Rheumy who bumped me up to 15mg and then 20mg. That did the job for about 11hrs/day. I split the dose to cover

New here, need some advice please, has pmr returned and what should i do?
Hi I was diagnosed with PMR in 2011. Although i had what i believe are fairly common symptoms (debilitating stiffness/pain around shoulders and front of hips, general weakness, shivery but no detectable fever). My diagnosis took a while as i was apparently not the typical demographic of a sufferer.

Hi everyone, I am cautiously very excited having just had a very positive 11+4 scan - baby looking lovely today and I'm almost starting to get excited š My clinic in Spain is talking now about weaning me off the drugs - I'm on 10mg prednisone and they want me to move down to 5mg tomorrow and then take

Steroid Withdrawal at lower levels of Prednisone
I just started to taper from 5 mg to 4.5 mg, taking my first 4.5 mg dose this past Monday, using the DSNS tapering plan. Besides being very tired the last two days, I have had no other symptoms as of yet. (A bit of background - started getting pain in early Jan 2021, was diagnosed with PMR late May 2021

Short course of Prednisone
I have developed some ringing in my ears and exploring all kinds of reasons for why. Had an episode of Nystagmus (dizziness) in Feb but it went away. Also seeing an eye doc to make sure eyes not related to ear ringing. Still on W&W 2.5 years. WBC is at 20. Primary care doc wants me to take a 6 day

rheumatologist locum visit for prednisone refill
I was diagnosed by my rheumatologist in December 2022 with a fairly aggressive tapering schedule that I had to abandon at 6 mg. When she diagnosed me, she did say that she felt I was too young for PMR but that my symptoms were classic PMR. I am 58. I was reluctant to go on prednisone but couldnāt take

Not sure what to do ā¦
At the beginning of the covid pandemic my consultant put me on methotrexate because the hydroxychloroquine I was on was giving me stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea. The methotrexate did not seem to work even after increasing the oral dose and then switching to injections, the blood tests kept showing

Covid/PMR Questions
My husband just tested positive for Covid. My doctor had warned me that because of the prednisone, I needed to contact her if I had exposure to or showed symptoms of Covid or any other bug. My recollection is that she said if I got sick, she would increase my dose of prednisone since my own immune system

PSA and Images all stable for 4.5 years.
Tired of the side effects so with OK's from both of my MO's I started a vacation. Lupron and Zytiga stopped until either chemical or image progression shows up. The goal is to rebuild the lost muscle and possible lose some of the other SE's -Fatigue and brain fog being most annoying. My question is

Covid/ Prednisolone
So after avoiding it for almost 3 years, Covid has finally struck. I tested positive on Tuesday. At present have a bad head cold, aches and pains and yesterday a high temperature. This evening a cough has started. My concern now is that in the first week of January I needed a 5 day course of prednisolone

Frustration
I find it hard when people say that they know someone who has been taking prednisolone for polymyalgia for 16 years with no side effects. The person involved is currently on 5mg prednisolone and her brother is on 8 mg. When I enquired why they havenāt tried to reduce to zero steroids the reply was

Rheumatologist appointment todayā¦
I have been having a lot of problems with blood clots in my lungs the past two years. I am also having increased pain in my joints (including lower back). I have had to stop Naproxen because of the blood thinners I am on. I have had several prednisolone injections in my lower back, but the pain is still

A giant cell arteritis suffer
A giant cell arteritis suffer on methotrexate and prednisolone. Has anyone been on this combination as well? How long did it take you to get off the steroids as i'm still on 4mg as struggling to get off them as symptoms keep returning once I reduce down any further.

Dexa scan
Good morning all, I have been taking Prednisolone for over 2 years. My rheumatologist is pushing me to take biphosphonates but I am very reluctant. My T score on dexa scan are - 2.3 spine and -0.8 hips? Is there an alternative to biphosphonates?

FET today
Hi all, we've got our transfer later today. Second try after a failed transfer last year. We only have two euploid embryos so this might be our last shot. We've changed lots of stuff this time - I'm on levothyroxine and prednisolone and we've done intralipids and I went through several courses of antibiotics

How do you taper Prednisone pills, by crushing and weighing the powders?
I am not talking about a taper plan schedule. I mean how do you cut 1 mg from a 10 mg tablet?

Sudden blotch on stomach
Hi I was diagnosed in January after blood tests but I have just noticed a bright red blotch on left lower stomach, would this be a PMR symptom or side affect of Prednisone? Has anyone else had this? I am seeing my GP in April.
